shootr Posted January 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2017 Still heading down, was 194 this morning so all is well. I do try to buy in to the "new year - new start" mentality and constantly remind myself to hang in there, keep the big picture in mind, and carry on. (With everything - eating, work, recreation, etc) Yesterday was the hardest for some reason with hunger, but pulled through and didn't fall off the wagon - so this morning feels like a victory. Thanks for the encouragement Belle, hope you are "hanging in there" as well. See ya!

retiring soon Posted January 12, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2017 HI all! Belle ~ thanks for your helpful lines.:D Aratski ~ congrats, you're doing amazing! I'm down this week but only by 0.2 lbs. That's at least in the right direction which amazes me as I had pineapple upside down cake on the brain so made some cupcakes Tuesday then went to a lunch yesterday where they served it too! I just had a small piece.:o If I just cut out my snacks which add up to the same as lunch or breakfast in calories, I'd do great but I'm not ready to do that. Have a good week! ~ Jo ~ :)
Anthomaniac Posted January 12, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) I'm also on the 194 train! Not going to try too hard this month. Feb is my official start for diet and exercise. Trying for thirty pounds by the end of November. 3 pounds a month is totally doable. winewanderer Posted January 17, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Hello, Hope everyone had a nice weekend. Went the gym today. My right knee is a little sore so walked on a treadmill then later took another walk and did some yard work. Sometimes in winter my knees ache. We get cold (although not like where it snows) and foggy weather. So, we don't get out of the 40's. I think the cold, dank weather is what does it. Hope all are doing well with exercise and eating. Belle Posted January 17, 2017 Author #11 Share Posted January 17, 2017 Great job on the exercise. They say walking is the best. Sorry knee is sore. Bet it is the cold damp weather. What's great is you still did it even with sore knee. Keep it up!
shootr Posted January 17, 2017 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2017 For me it's the tracking. How many calories I'm taking in, how active I am during the day, water, etc. All this newfangled tech wizardry makes it pretty easy, then throws encouragement, disdain, and weekly charts in my face to remind me how I'm doing. I honestly don't know if the 16/8 fasting program is helping - I'm still sticking to a 1300 calorie/day goal so I know that is part of it. But just knowing I can only eat so much at a time, and it not being processed or junk stuff, and I'm cut off at 8pm - all combines to help me not binge. I'm digging "Buffalo Blue cheese salads" right now: lettuce, grilled chicken tossed in Buffalo wing sauce, a little parmesan, and fat free blue cheese dressing (maybe a handful of crushed tortilla chips if I'm feeling naughty) - pretty tasty and filling. Aratski Posted January 17, 2017 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2017 I am doing the no junk food challenge that I saw floating around on FB. My daughter decided to do it, so hubs and I joined her. I asked people in the office who wanted to do it and it turned into a monetary challenge :) It's 21 days of No chocolate no candy no biscuits or cookies no cake, donuts or muffins no pastries no white bread no chips no fast food no nutella, peanut butter or other naughty spreads no ice cream There's 5 of us participating in the office, we each put in $21. One person failed and gave up we get her $$ and the other one failed one day but is continuing on. Next Tuesday is payout and I'm bound and determined to get my money back and then some. It's going to my cruise fund!! :D It's kinda nice, not having to count points, count calories...I'm just focusing on eating healthy and not eating the items above. Can't say it's been easy...I want some chocolate...but I want my money more! ;)

Going to the gym everyday and trying to drink more water and have given up my morning snack at work in favor of bringing a homemade mixture of oatmeal with raisins and ground cinnamon which I keep in my desk and add over top of a cut up banana in a bowl add water and microwave. So far am down 4 lbs this year. Looking to try and lose 20lbs. Gave up on the gym last year after disc surgery but already put a new notch in my belt..... Hope I can continue and help others...
