39august Posted January 15, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2017 Has anyone been to Pissarro's studio and can give me your opinion of it? I have seen the sign but never gone in. Will be back at St. Thomas in a couple of weeks and looking for something different to do.
Ms411 Posted January 15, 2017 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2017 I have been, but there's a new owner who has a massive antique collection that he added to the building. Haven't seen all of the new collections. It has to be better than it was.
39august Posted January 15, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2017 I assume there are no actual Pissarros there lol. Not into antiques as much as paintings. How was the art? You said it has to be better than it was, so I guess you were not impressed.
Ms411 Posted January 15, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2017 (edited) 6There were Picasso reproductions, and mostly of his pre impressionist days when he was on St Thomas and those were limited. At least one island (St Martin?) has an annual plein air (sp?) festival. Pissaro made that technique popular. I'm going to look it up again to see if I can squeeze in a trip during the festival. O2B@Cagain Posted January 16, 2017 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2017 It was not his studio, but where he lived as a child. The art is by local artists, for the most part.
