Snorkeling and sightseeing on foot

We have decided to snorkel at Edens Rock and walk around Georgetown. My question is.... is this all feasible to do on foot? We will be arriving on the Carnival Breeze and we were hoping just to walk from the port down to Edens Rock, rent equipment and let those who want to snorkel do so. Is there a place for the non-snorkelers to wait?? Afterwards we planned to wander around the town. Any suggestions on where to stop and what to see? Hoping to keep this port cheap! Maybe get back on board for lunch. Suggestions??

If you snorkel at the first "Eden Rock" spot, that's Paradise Restaurant, which is a great place for the rest of the group to wait with a beverage or snack, look out over the port from the patio, etc.

Most of downtown is shopping and restaurants. There is a museum as well. There's lots to see, but few formal "attractions" to visit.

Thanks! Have you done any snorkeling at Cozumel?

A guided snorkel trip would be okay... Seems like a pretty good swim at Eden Rock.

Just tried to check pictures of Eden Rock, and looks like rock, some coral heads, a few sea fans... but not what I would describe as a lush living reef.

I guess I am looking for what might come closest to the Marine Preserve at Puerto Morelos.

Probably nothing that really compares!

The best snorkeling at Eden Rock is a a pretty good swim and the water is deep. My pick would be Smith's Cove. It is about twice as far as Eden Rock. I am guessing a mile from port. We also did Cemetery Beach but it was a long swim to any coral. Nice beach though.
