Would a long sleeve dress be too hot on elegant night?

Men wear long sleeve shirts and jackets and we are fine.

Personally, I find the public rooms on Carnival ships way too cold. Last cruise on the Liberty, even my husband complained about how cold it was in the MDR, steakhouse and theater. I always wear at least 3/4 sleeves or take a jacket or sweater to the dining room. The formal I am taking on my cruise tomorrow has long sleeves. OP's wife should be just fine.

We are just off Conquest and I was sure glad I brought a couple of sweaters and wraps. It was COLD in the MDR and the theaters.

I find it's always cool in the dining room too. I would think long sleeves would be fine. No need for a sweater if your arms are covered.
