marcypett Posted January 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) Anyone have a recommendation (outside of RCCL excursions) to go snorkeling in St. Thomas for a family of four? We're hoping the waters are clear with colorful corals vs Jamaica where the water was a bit more murky. cruisencrazy Posted January 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Sapphire Beach is great and quiet. You can snorkel right off the beach. The best snorkeling is all the way down to the left of where you enter.
scurrymd Posted January 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted January 21, 2017 There should be excursions that go over to St John - there is great snorkeling over there! We did an RCCL tour that went to St John, and have gone back on several week-long trips since that first visit, it's my favorite island. It may be worth considering doing the RCCL tours, just to make sure you don't have to worry about getting back to the ship.
marcypett Posted January 21, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Also interested in any local snorkeling excursions if you have a recommendation.
matj2000 Posted January 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2017 I have been to about 5 different beaches in St.Thomas. The only one that I have ever seen colorful tropical fish and coral in abundance is Coki Beach. All the others I have been to just had sea grass or rocks and a few plain fish.. Tinacton Posted January 21, 2017 #7 Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) I've visited my uncle who lives on St Thomas for a week. Coki beach is the best. They also have a coral world ocean park there, which does have an admission price but the beach where you can snorkel is free. LovinCruisin24 Posted January 21, 2017 #8 Share Posted January 21, 2017 (edited) Agree with above about going to St. John via boat from st Thomas and go to trunk bay. It was amazing!! The snorkeling trail is along the rocks and my husband said it was really cool Sent from my iPhone using Forums Edited January 21, 2017 by LovinCruisin24
marcypett Posted January 21, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Did you rent a car to get to Sapphire Beach?
Clarea Posted January 21, 2017 #10 Share Posted January 21, 2017 Did you rent a car to get to Sapphire Beach? It's a ship excursion and you can also do it via taxi.
kalliekae Posted January 21, 2017 #11 Share Posted January 21, 2017 We love St. Thomas and have been there many times both as a land vacation and on cruises. We've found Coki Beach to be the best place for snorkeling. It was better than St. John, in our opinion, although St. John is a very pretty island and well worth seeing.
