I am flying to Sydney 11/21/17 to pick up the Maasdam 11/22/17. Does anyone know why the hotels are so expensive around that date(s). I cannot find anything on the internet. Thanks.

Are they expensive compared to normal. At a quick glance at a couple of hotels they look about normal.

 

Hotels in Sydney are expensive.

 

Then again Sydney is expensive.

I have had a quick look too and the prices seem pretty normal. It is not a quiet time as it starts to come into the time when there are a lot of functions and also end of high school and university celebrations (our academic year here being the calendar year) Our nephew had his 21st birthday around that time last year as it was postponed because so many friends had exams. Many people stay in the city for the night after those sort of events.

But having said that, it is not a really busy time. I have recently been looking at prices in Vancouver, Salt lake City and other parts of Utah and they seem if anything more expensive than the equivalent here.
