Join your roll call - you will make friends there. I know lots of folks who cruise alone - and they all have a great time.

I cruise solo now and have for my past three cruises. I have enjoyed the experiences although they have varied.

You don't mention ship but I will relate a little of my NCL experience.

I did solo on Epic in 2014. I enjoyed it very much as I usually do like NCL. So many activities and great entertainment. These things help with solo cruising.

If you are in a Studio cabin then by all means take advantage of the solo cruisers activities and join the groups that meet at the Studio Lounge. When I was on Epic there were organized activities & dinners set up by a dedicated cruise director staff member. Solo cruisers were also encouraged to set up their own activities. There was a white board in the Studio Lounge where the solos could leave notes for dinners, excursions, activities and so on.

So you don't have to be alone if you don't want to be. If your are in Studio I encourage you to attend the first night solo gathering in the Studio Lounge to meet your fellow solo cruisers and maybe establish a 'solo buddy' cruise friendship.

If you're not in a Studio cabin then you will be a little to your own devices. I have not had a problem with that as I already do many things alone so I am adaptable. Usually pretty easy to strike up conversations and at least nodding acquaintances on a cruise ship.

I have cruised solo on RCL & HAL as well and I think NCL was the best with RCL a not too far second.

Hope this helps a little.

Go. Flower & enjoy!

Smooth sailings.

I had a great time on my solo cruise last fall. I was also on the Breakaway going to Bermuda! I'd recommend going to the solo traveler's meet each night. It's a great way to meet new people. On my cruise, the solo host coordinated dinner for anyone in the group who wanted to join each night. It was nice to have the option of dinner company when I wanted it. I was pleased enough with the experience that I've booked another cruise for 2018 which I'll also be doing solo.

Even if not in a solo you can join the solo get together and meet up with other solos. Just do it in the beginning as that is the best time to find a group you fit in with. It is also ok to enjoy some alone time. I have had great times planning excursions with others on this site and then joining up with them other times in the week.

I have cruised solo 2 times (not in studio as others have mentioned ) ...and all though I too was a bit nervous the first time....I found it very liberating !!! and I had a great time. I cruised solo to "run away from home". ..and just to have a week to do whatever I wanted..whenever I wanted...I did spend some time with people I met on board, but also spent a lot of time alone and relaxing.. I would surely go solo again. Enjoy your cruise.:)

Unless things have changed you need to be in a Studio cabin in order to meet the solo cruisers in the Studio Lounge. Access retricted to Studio cruisers.

Unless you mean set up solo/singles meet ups outstide the lounge?

Cruising solo! Nothing like it! Although my next cruise is with my daughter, I still like the freedom that cruising solo provides. If I want to socialize, I can. If I don't want to be around others, I don't have to be. You'll love it!

You do not have to be in a solo cabin to enjoy solo get togethers. Typically, the meeting is at 6:00 p.m. and the door will be propped open. Anyone on the ship who is travelling solo is welcome to attend. I have done this on numerous occasions as I cruise through CAS and they do not comp solo cabins. As for getting in other times, you cannot unless someone lets you in.

Thanks all for responding im more excited than nervous now!! Can anyone tell me about studio cabin 10505? Also want to purchase a spa pass for the week online, but the website seems to be not working. Does anyone know if I can do it by phone with my cruise consultant? I heard they only sale a certain amount and that they go quickly.

Since you're not sailing until June, it's just that the spa passes aren't available to purchase yet. Should be available 90 days before sailing (100 days for suites). I booked one on my solo Epic sailing last week and discovered it was the best kept secret on NCL! :) So relaxing and peaceful! Enjoy your solo cruise - they're pretty fantastic.

I've travelled 3 times solo. You can have as much or as little company as you choose. It's the best type of holiday I've had.

The solo traveller meet ups on the Breakaway will be a good way to meet other solo travellers without tying yourself to them. I also find people on cruises are so friendly so it's very easy to strike up conversations if you want.

I also value a lot of time to myself though and have never had a problem with getting that either. It's fine dining alone too, if you do that. You get really good service as a result. But the solo coordinator also arranges dinners for solo travellers if you prefer to eat with a group.

I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I took a solo cruise last year on the Escape and will be on my second on the Getaway in 20 something days. They are a blast. Like many people have said, go to the meet and greets, you can see if there are any people there that you want to hang out with. The people cruising solo are usually a blend of ages so you will likely find a group close to your age and personality. Have a great time.

I am considering a solo trip with another cruise company which does not have studios or single cabins. Also there is a 100% supplement at this time. I know about the "plum" website that has great info, but none for this cruise. Any suggestions for solo discounts other than waiting and hoping for a last minute deal?

At dinner ask to share a table. This is an easy way to meet people in a relaxed casual setting. It's actually best if you choose a busier timer for dinner because if you go during slow periods you will end up at a table alone and that's no fun. Sometimes you meet people while standing in line and they will offer to adopt you at their table.

Yes, last minute is the best way to book a cruise with zero single supplement, but it depends on what time of year your cruise. In September or October there is a pretty good chance, but February and March, forget it. It's all about how many empty cabins they have inside 30 or so days.

Last September I booked the Escape for 7 Days in a Single Inside Cabin, four days before departure for $279. Fortunately, I live 45 minutes from POM and didn't have to worry about airfare to get here.

I've travelled solo several times. What I've found is that many people in groups go off to do things independently much of the time on the ship, so sailing solo is not as apparent as you might imagine. I've always met great people to talk to and even go on excursions and have dinner, even without the solo groups. I've not sailed in a studio but also have not been able to make the solo meetings due to my own schedule so I've had to rely on meeting people at meet and greets, at events like the martini tasting, at a bar pre dinner sipping a glass of wine, or at the casino. People on cruises are very social and friendly. It always amazes me how often I bump into the same people throughout the cruise!

Bermuda is a safe place, with awesome public transportation, so even if you do not meet up with people who want to do the same things as you, you can do stuff independently too. Have a wonderful cruise! Bermuda is one of my favorite places to visit!! (in case that is not apparent in my signature)

Where exactly is the Solo Lounge on Breakaway located?

My cousin and I sailed on the Gem last year and there were a lot of family groups aboard and they tended to eat dinner at large tables in the main dining rooms. Although we met several people during the sailing we were never seated with other guests nor were we asked if we wanted to be. That was the one big disappointment with the cruise since we were not able to share our daily experiences with others or obtain information about what to do or not miss.

This year we are going on the Breakaway and would like to meet up with others.

Thanks!

As a solo the meet and greet was useless, but NCL Solo meeting was awesome. Be sure to go Day 1, we met every day as we generally had at least a few dine together each night. We also had a host from NCL meet with daily. I would cruise solo with NCL again.

Where on the ship was it held and when (day) and at what time was it held?

Thanks!
