BNBR Posted February 3, 2017 #26 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Very cool. Glory did feel a bit dated in October though we enjoyed the ship quite a lot. I'm curious to see some reviews of the upgrades. We would certainly consider sailing her again with a little refresh.
MrShipFaced Posted February 3, 2017 #27 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Last week we booked a late March cruise, not knowing what what be added(if anything) during her dry dock. Daughter is excited about this, to say the least. Sent from my SM-G935T using Forums mobile app

I'm always amazed how much they can get done during these "time outs." We sail 4/15/17 It will likely be during that time because that's when they will have the most time to do such a big task. During dry dock they have hundreds of people from all over the world working 24 hours for 2 weeks. These workers live on another cruise ship for that time that is docked nearby
Icantdrv55 Posted February 13, 2017 #30 Share Posted February 13, 2017 I think they should do the area where the current slide is. The pool in that area was barely used the whole week when were on the ship in January. That area could use a refresh. Doing that would also enable them to keep the current Serenity and aft pool area intact as well.

We sail 4/15/17 We could assume that it would be, but the next several sailings after dry dock also normally seems to have work going on too. Just because the dry dock is finished does necessarily mean that the w

skywalkr2 Posted February 14, 2017 #33 Share Posted February 14, 2017 Truthfully serenity on Glory is pretty bad and could use a big facelift. After being on the pride... Nothing compares.

These workers live on another cruise ship for that time that is docked nearby So when a ship is in dry dock where do they get this other cruise ship for the workers to stay on and why can't they stay on the one they are working on? In all the years I have cruised I just assumed they stayed on the same ship. Doesn't make much sense to me but I am sure the cruise lines have their reasons. It was only kids in that pool anyways and they should be removing the old slide so I think that is where it should go too!
kdhjlm Posted February 14, 2017 #37 Share Posted February 14, 2017 I was just looking at the Live webcam on the Glory and they have already taken down much of the twister slide. Looks like they are starting the prep work early.

kdhjlm Posted February 14, 2017 #40 Share Posted February 14, 2017 I went to this site on carnival https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1392/~/fun-ship-live-webcams There is another link on that page that you click on. It brings up a map of all the carnival ships. You just click on the ship and the little icon of the webcam.

Jamericannn Posted February 14, 2017 #42 Share Posted February 14, 2017 They are in the middle of a cruise and no waterslide. That area is blocked off. wow. I would want back some $$$ if I was traveling with my children because that would be a lot of fun lost for them. That's what they are excited about. Jamericannn Posted February 14, 2017 #44 Share Posted February 14, 2017 There is a cruise going on right now. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk I am sure there will be a lot of negative feedback. That's why I refuse to book a cruise shortly before or after drydock. There is always work going on.
alti2de000 Posted February 14, 2017 #45 Share Posted February 14, 2017 I am on this cruise next week, and I will admit that I am not happy about this at all. People plan and spend too much for things like this to interfere with their vacations. ....even if it is a perceived inconvenience....which this probably will not only be. I understand that these cruise operators must upgrade their ships from time to time, but the paying passengers should not have to deal with these types of disruptions. Carnival should take this ship out of service, at the end of a trip and schedule the time needed to complete the upgrades/repairs, etc. and then put it back in service. The ship should not be under any type of construction/upgrade during a cruise. Really?
mrak Posted February 14, 2017 #46 Share Posted February 14, 2017 I think it's interesting how this type of small thing draws so much ire. How can you be sure your cruise wasn't discounted to account for this? Would you be furious if you went to a resort on land and one small facility was being repaired or replaced? I assure you that your cruise price would be much HIGHER if Carnival had to remove the ship from service for an additional week (each sailing is millions of dollars in revenue) in order for NOTHING to be disrupted for any sailing. I would understand if all of the pools were closed, or the entire casino was closed, as these are draws for people. But I highly doubt that this slide was anyone's decision maker. But, hey... thanks for your completely uninformed comments. LOL trolling? Uninformed? I've actually provided some valuable information in this thread about this very topic. The reason someone looked at the webcam and saw the slide was dismantled is because I started a thread called "Look at Glory's webcam" I'm just saying, you're on a cruise! Don't let a silly slide take away from your vacation that will surely be great, even without the slide. Attitude is everything!
alti2de000 Posted February 14, 2017 #49 Share Posted February 14, 2017 #1. I did not get my info from you about this issue.#2. The slide....at least for me is not the issue. It is having a construction area/zone on a cruise ship where you plan to relax...or enjoy a vacation. Some may not have it as good as you..playa!
