Thanks for sharing!

Did you get upgraded to a balcony for this bid?

Did they tell you your new cabin number?

Have a great New Years Cruise!!!!

Yes, from inside to B2 Balcony for $100 pp ($200 cabin total). They told us our cabin number too! Can't wait!!!

So happy...our upgrade bid for the NCL Breakaway 11/26 itinerary was accepted yesterday. We were originally booked the OA - Oceanview’ category and we were upgraded to a ‘BI - Aft Balcony. Honestly, we would have been happy staying in the OA catergory if our bid was not accepted but will certainly enjoy the large AFT balcony - what a nice surprise! Our bid was conservative - mid Poor / closer to Fair range.

Hi All! I am cruising on the 11/25 Escape cruise. I just had all of my interior (3), oceanview (1) rooms upgraded to mid-ship balconies, just now ( bid was "poor" $100pp/ea). And my Family Balcony room just got upgraded to Haven H7 (bid was "poor" $1500pp/ea). I'm a happy cruiser! Not going to tell my family members that I upgraded their cabins. Most are first-time cruisers expecting interior staterooms.

Thank you for this! We are on the same cruise and have been waiting (impatiently! Lol!) for our bid to be accepted from inside to balcony. Based on your post, I have increased my bid a bit, up to $100/pp. (yn) :D

I actually bid in the fair range for the Haven Spa Suite and I didn't get that one. It's hard to figure out how it works.

Good luck!!

I️ have kept a spreadsheet so I️ think I️ have a good handle on it, and made some educated guesses along with direct answers I️ got from

The old up sell line. I️ can’t tell my trade secrets..... [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

But I️ think I know how to get the one I️ want pending their ongoing availability, and in fact did bid higher than most. My hope is that I️ will be the first bid approved, so I️ made a high bid, bc it’s worth it for me to know sooner. Although I️ still

Know nothing but I️ think I’ll find out closer to, or right after thanksgiving. Rooms are almost full though so moves should start coming!!

PS EVERY TIME YOU SEE THIS SYMBOL: I️

It is a glitch, it’s supposed to be the letter hI, but without the h.

I haven't done extensive research on the bidding process but it seems that what's considered a "poor" bid depends on how much initially paid, any freebies and the particular sailing. A few weeks back I saw that two different posters mentioned that their minimum bids required for the same sailing were much different. So, I assume that a $1500 bid that is still "poor" may reflect that the poster got a good deal for the initial booking.

But this is all conjecture! Who knows how it truly works!!

Considering bidding on a Penthouse Suite (not in Haven) it says you get concierge service. What does that include? On RCCL that include a lounge and drinks (alcoholic) from 5-8:30 Is there anything like that on NCL?

No drinks other than there is usually a suite party one night for about an hour.

Which ship? Concierges on NCL do things like make dinner reservations or shows (new, larger ships).

Along with the actual bid other things are taken into consideration..which is why 2 people may bid identical and one gets it and 1 does not.

Or 1 bids higher and does not get accepted and someone else bids lower for same cabin and is accepted.

Some additional factors considered are

1. Loyalty status...yup those higher levels pay off in many ways including upgrades. Loyalty is rewarded.

2. On board spending habits.

See number 1. If you have loyalty status and spend money on board ...art auctions. Casino. Shopping. Extra shows. Etc...you get rewarded.

They know the spenders will spend more when happy about an upgrade deal. Its all on file and they do check your cruise history

They will also look at those who have loyalty with competitors...if you are loyal to royal for example and have a higher status ranking. You have a higher likelihood of getting an upgrade accepted than someone who has cruised ncl 3 or 4 times and never spends a dime on board.

It is all about who is likely to spend more money and gaining market share ..turning loyal cruisers to other lines to loyal ncl cruisers.

These factors along with wjat is available. Including insides. And balconies

Last minute cruisers are often looking for a deal...so they will upgrade to balconies and haven in order to free up cheaper cabins which they can easily resell to last minute cruisers.

Just curious - has anyone been awarded a bid upgrade for more than one cruise? Since this bid program started a year or so ago, has anyone cruised more than once and gotten their bid accepted on multiple cruises?

Yes, we bid on a number of options last Christmas on the Getaway and won a Haven Spa Suite.

This year, we are on the Jade and won a Haven Owners Suite ($1400pp bid, low fair range.)

Our bid for an upgrade on the Epic Transatlantic in April was not accepted.

In all cases, we had a handicap balcony booked originally.

This is our first cruise and we are coming up on bid time - we are in a mini suite - do I bid on haven or not? I can afford a bid not a great one but much less than we would have to pay for the haven normally - so do I do it? Will it ruin us for future cruises - advice please

thanks in advance

No just what you had for your original cabin, but you get butler service, etc.

You only get what came with your original booking, so if you had the beverage package and WiFi that is what you keep. You don’t get the other 2-3 perks (promos). You do get use of the haven and butler/concierge.

It's hard to go back from The Haven, but worth experiencing at least once. Put a bid in and see what happens.

Go for it! You have nothing to lose. We put in a poor bid and got the upgrade, so you never know!

That bid of poor does not match any info I️ see, personally for my bidding or on this thread. I️ am thinking someone has an honesty problem!! Lol

Why would you say that? On our 3rd cruise on our b2b2b one of the upgrades options that we have, $1,500pp IS in the poor range and the high range is $3,500pp, so I can tell you it is realistic.

I️ said that because in addition to this thread, I’m on every other one about upgrades with a spread sheet, and 1500 doesn’t match a bid for the category you referenced in that range. You also wrote many posts about upgrading to a balcony or min suite for same cruise for a few hundred dollars. Period, done with this, peace!

My question is how do you know this? People used to talk about this once in awhile under the old program with the upsell fairy and I can tell you from our experience it never happened.

The Gem, so not worth it Minimum bid is $600

Not sure what room you are in now, but you would get a bigger room, butler, Cagneys for B/L, if a tender port you'd get priority there as well as when you get off the ship so there are a few perks for the suite.
