Hey ... just going to say... I love to shop! Can anyone tell me where the best shopping is? Starting in Anchorage, then Seward ..ISP.. Juneau.. Skagway ..and Ketchikan ending in Vancouver. What did you get and where did you get it? I found a thread from 2005 so I thought I'd see if any one knows the scoop from their recent cruises. Thanks.

Looking for authentic Alaska!

What is it that you are looking for?

For Alaskan souvenirs, the Alaska Wildberry Company in Anchorage has a gerat selection. If you are looking for items made in Alaska, look for the official "Made In Alaska" logo. The Ulu Factory in Anchorage has a great selection of those unique cutting tools.

Here is a soap shop in Juneau: http://www.glaciersmoothie.com

In Ketchikan - I like Sam McGee's which is on Creek Street - they have a lot of local food (jams, jellies) and other local items.

Tongass Trading (Ketchikan) is going to be your jacket, tshirt, sweatshirt, souvenir cheap place: https://tongasstrading.com/store/

While more Canadian but stores in Juneau is a Jade shop:

For Vancouver... Robson and Alberni is the destination area for tourists.

Here's some unique products you may not get at home....

  • a Bay Blanket
  • Rufles all dress potato chips
  • BeaverTails
  • Coffee Crisp
  • Crispy Crunch
  • smarties
  • Kraft Dinner
  • Red Mittens at the Bay
  • Lay's ketchup chips
  • Maple syrup
  • Laura Secord candies
  • ice wine
  • prescription drugs?

Additional thoughts...

  • Kinder Surprise.... you don't want to cross the border with these!
  • any interest in a condo or house just 30 minutes from the border?
