Casino Questions - Caribbean Princess

Does the casino offer gaming lessons at all? I would like to learn to play Craps on the ship. Do you just use your room card to play in the casino or do you need cash? Is the gambling age 18 or 21? How much are Bingo cards on the ship?

Thanks!

I don't gamble in the casino, but I can answer some of your questions based on FAQs and on observations when reading the Patter and when walking through the casino.

As stated in FAQ: Onboard Experience under "Age Restrictions on Drinking and Gambling": "The age for gambling on Princess ships is 18 years old."

Sometimes I have seen gambling lessons offered in the casino. However, I suspect it depends more on the itinerary than on the ship. On a trans-Atlantic cruise or a Hawaii cruise with lots of sea days, they are more likely to offer lessons than on a port-intensive cruise. If you post what itinerary you are on, someone would be more likely to be able to answer your question.

I can't speak to the Caribbean, but we just got off the Regal. We received our cruise from the Venetian/Palazzo, so needless to say we like to gamble and spend a few hours in the casino. On the Regal, the craps table was only open from 8pm - close (around 2/3 am). At 8 the Patter advertised they would offer lessons if anyone didn't know how to play. I never saw one, but I did play craps a few times and each time there was at least one person at the table who had no idea what was going on. It wasn't a bad thing, the dealers and other players were more than happy to help out, and on the ship the gambling stakes are pretty low so nobody should get bent all out of shape about anything. I'd encourage you to drop by and give it a go.

As for how you play, your room card is fine, the only thing we found is it is very easy to lose track of what you charge to your room if you do $20 here and $50 there. I'd recommend either using cash or simply allowing yourself to purchase one chunk of credits in order to keep track of your spending better.

I have seen all the tables open when the casino is open, and I have also seen tables setup for lessons on the craps and black jack tables. They also have slot tournaments that I have done a couple of times. Lots of fun. One of the previous posts is correct that if you do not know how to play one of the casino staff will help you.

I am just off the Caribbean Princess on a 5 day Caribbean cruise. I just checked my Princess Patters and there was no craps lessons on our cruise. I agree on longer cruises or cruises that have a lot of sea days they usually will have a craps lesson. I have gone to several because I don't play craps that often and I need a refresher and because they offer a free play ticket when you go to the lessons.

Nobody mentioned it but your room key is also your casino card. Insert in machine or let dealer know so they can keep track of play. At machines you can either pull money from your onboard account or use cash. To take money out you have to upload it to your key card and then take it to the cashier cage to get cash. No tickets or cash payout.
