sasha001 Posted February 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Has anyone had Brest as a port? If so I would appreciate any info. Sounds like we need to travel out of town. Was wondering if anyone found a local tour? I cannot find anything on line and would prefer not to use cruise tour on NLC Getaway. Thanks for any help! If you put together a group you could hire a tour company that would come from another city. Although there are some things to see and do in Brest, this is a relatively new city (built after WWII). My personal preference is to simply rent a car and spend the day exploring Brittany (especially along the scenic coast) or perhaps driving all the way to Quimper. You might also be able to hire a taxi for half or a full day, but no guarantee that the driver will speak much (or any) English. Hank
SuiteTraveler Posted February 25, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2017 Here's a guide to Brest. http://www.arrivalguides.com/en/Travelguides/Europe/France/Brest Given it is a modern city, but depending on your interests, I can think of some things to do there such as going on a culinary tour where you go to local gourmet shops and then have lunch at a fabulous restaurant followed by a stop at a local pastry shop. You could buy Herbs de Province, French Olive Oil, wine and cheese. Another thought would be to go to Landevennec for the day. https://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/France/Bretagne/Landevennec-115287/TravelGuide-Landevennec.html This can be done by land or by sea. Here is a provider of day cruise tours of the coast of Brest: http://www.arrivalguides.com/en/Travelguide/BREST/doandsee/le-temps-d-une-escapade-private-day-tours-81991 Here are some other tours of Brest: https://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/France/Bretagne/Brest-133144/Off_the_Beaten_Path-Brest-TG-C-1.html https://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/France/Bretagne/Brest-133144/TravelGuide-Brest.html
