Great review and thanks so much for taking the time to post pictures. Do you have more pictures of just common areas on the Escape? In a blizzard today and home from work and reading reviews while my dh is out with snowblower doing the neighborhood lol

Leaving my kids at home in July and sailing Escape with my dh for my 50th birthday.

Where did you and your wife enjoy hanging out at night?

Did you use the gym? It looked like there were more treadmills than Breakaway and Getaway. I had to be at gym no later than 630 am a couple of weeks ago on Getaway so not have to wait to get a treadmill to run. Did you use at all? Did you see a rower in there at all?

Thanks so much!

Thank you...

You can find hundreds of photos of the ship in the review section

(scroll down about half-way just under the reviews)

http://www.cruisecritic.com/reviews/review.cfm?ShipID=691

The gym was crowded in the morning so I would go at about 3 PM and it was practically empty.

They have plenty of cardio equipment.

I'm pretty sure they had 2 rowing machines near the elliptical machines.

At night we would go to listen to live music. Like the Getaway Headliners has Howl at the Moon, dueling pianos.

In addition you can go to the District Brewhouse for live music. This was my favorite bar on the ship,

but my wife couldn't get wine there so we would bring some from the Cellar wine bar also on the waterfront.

I went to the Brat Pack show one night and we went to the casino one night as well.

They have live music at the Skyline bar but it has smoke from the casino.

There is live music and "gameshows" in the atrium at night. You can go to O'Sheehans and overlook the atrium.

They have night parties in Spice H2O but I only went to check out the glow party one night.

Even though Escape felt bigger to me, I think I liked it better than the Getaway.

Mostly because of the District Brewhouse and the tube slide.

The balconies are also slightly larger.

Enjoy!

Great review!! I am fully enjoying your review. I do have a question when you have time. I am interested in the Jost Van Dyke excursion but concerned that the cruise version and/or Rebel Yell will be sold out. Who did you go through for your excursion? Did you reserve prior or did you locate the vendor when you arrived in Tortola?

I have a few days until my cruise, but I like to be prepared...LOL

:)

This is a great review of the Escape it is Right On. We went on her last May We tried to book the Jost Van Dyke Cruise with NCl and it was sold out . Wish I had know about this.

(y)

Rebel Yell sells out quickly as it is so highly rated.

I would book a private charter if you miss out on the Rebel Yell.

We saw it at JVD and it was crowded, looked like fun

but I was happy on our own boat

With 4 passengers the cost is the same as the Rebel yell so check out the roll call

and find out about splitting a private excursion.

Now you now for NEXT time!

I have 2 boys (16 and 14 yrs) and we are considering Food Republic. Did your kids enjoy it? Also it looks like you order several dishes that you share, is that correct? You mentioned $7/dish, curious on how that works.

I concur with many of the comments about the Food Republic. We went Friday night last week -- and it was packed. Food was delicious. Great service. Good variety. Enjoy! Here is the menu if it comes through okay....67485325c25fe39db1e137e7b5a41c61.jpg

Is that a paper menu.

Half the fun is using the iPad screens

Prior to going on the cruise I read that you should go early on in the cruise.

We went on the 1st sea day and it was quite.

by Friday it was crowded....GO EARLY

Thank you so much. We are booked in a haven suite in August. I can't wait. Your review is excellent and pictures spectacular. We are bringing my DS17 and his friend and I am trying to plan excursions. They asked to go back to Atlantis (we were on DCL last June) and they loved Atlantis. It is expensive, can you book that by yourself and not through the cruise line?

It's a great ship.

As for Atlantis I believe you can book it on your own.

It's a $4/person cab ride from the pier to the hotel.

I've heard that some cruise passengers book a room at

the Atlantis for the day to get the passes.

You can also look into the Comfort Inn, as their guests also

get to use all the facilities at the Atlantis.

Awesome review!!!! After sailing the Getaway last year, I would love to go on the Escape, it aooears they adjusted what doesn't work for the Getaway. I wonder how the thermal spa is.

Thank you!

The spa is very nice on the Escape. They have windows in the Sauna

where you can overlook the water. They also have a snow room that

is not on the Getaway. Otherwise they are similar.

I bought a week long pass when I was on the Getaway but only did a

day pass on a port day for $59 on the Escape.

So there has been a change with Photobucket.

As of Aug 17, 2017 they no longer allow 3rd party sharing (without a $400 paid subscription) so you will not be able to view the photos

unless you Chrome or Firefox browsers AND embed a free extension

Shutterfly and SmugMug allow 3rd party (i.e Cruise Critic) sharing

Never underestimate the power (at least for now) of a bunch of techies p!$$ed off at a tech company:

If you use Chrome, and I've also read Firefox, Google "photobucket embed fix". For Chrome, this is a free extension that appears to intercept the HTML call to an embedded Photobucket picture and instead link to the underlying photo and display the photo in the embedded location.

In other words, with the extension, you see the photo rather than the "PB 500" graphic. You may have to clear your photo cache. Just tested it on another forum, and it definitely works in Chrome...

Photobucket has been closing every user friendly API, such as shutting down the interface Smugmug used for its Smuglr app, and the "download folder" feature (which they claim is "broken" and being fixed). Unless this is so fundamental as to render Photobucket unusable if they close it, they'll probably close it...

Photobucket released the images after they blocked 3rd party (Cruise Critic)

use.

All images can be viewed again.

Wait, what? Does that mean we can again share them here? If not, then same situation, right?

Yes.

The images from Photobucket are working again.

Not sure if it's temporary but the have a new price plan.

As for me I will be using Amazon Prime or Shutterfly

in the future.
