Eagle_and_hawk Posted February 27, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 27, 2017 We just returned from our first cruise on the Caribbean Princess and wanted to take some time to post a reviewof our trip. It was the six day, Western Caribbean that visited Roatan, Belize & Cozumel. It has been a long, long year for me and my bride since we did the Panama Canal last February on the Coral for our anniversary, and we were ready for another cruise. Due to a medical emergency onboard a few hours after we left Ft. Lauderdale, we did not make it to Roatan and sailed to Costa Maya instead. We were in the window suite F305-Grand Turk on this trip. It's our first time in a window suite and sailing without a balcony. We picked this one since we knew from reading previous posts, it had been remodeled a year or so ago. There will be a lot of pictures as I like to show a plenty of details for those who have not sailed on Princess, been on this ship, or stayed in a window suite. First part, I want to show the window suite, then some of the more generic things, such as drink menus, etc. Then I will post the patters & MDR menus that we have. Also a few videos of entertainment and from one excursion. Just as summary as we did not take an excursion in Cost Maya. In Belize we did the BZE-115 Lamanai Mayan Ruins, Mangrove River Cruise & Lunch and in Cozumel, we did the CZM-305 San Gervasio Mayan Ruins & Chocolate Experience. The last sea day, we took the Ultimate Ship Tour. I will try to add some pictures and thoughts when I get to those days of the trip.
Eagle_and_hawk Posted February 27, 2017 Author #2 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Let's step inside F305 and take a look around. As you open the door, you see the sofa bed and the right side of the room: P1060475 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr You have two large windows that have roll down shades for cutting back on the light, along with drapes that block pretty much everything. It's great for taking naps in the middle of the day as my bride will attest too :-) P1060476 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr P1060477 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr P1060478 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr P1060479 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr
Eagle_and_hawk Posted February 27, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted February 27, 2017 From here, looking back at the door, you can see the dressing table and some of the drawers for storage. P1060485 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr P1060486 by Cool Runnings, on Flickr The shower is about 28x28, and not as big as a Vista Suite, as it would seem. Eagle_and_hawk Posted February 27, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted February 27, 2017 I thought of this later on in the trip as have seen requests for it. The suite has a pull out bed, so how does it look when pulled out? I tried to see if it would fit in front of the window, between the end table and long counter and was too big.
Eagle_and_hawk Posted February 27, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted February 27, 2017 A few of the items in the room, for inquiring minds: Current laundry prices. Since we were in a suite, we received free laundry and used it one time. We did check the "one day" option and there was no extra charge. We seen on the final bill, where they applied a charge and then credited it back as a "suite benefit". JF - retired RRT Posted February 27, 2017 #16 Share Posted February 27, 2017 Great pix. Interesting info. The "suite" breakfast menu looks the same as the regular menu (IIRC) only it's got red print instead of blue/black.

We would just write whatever we wanted if it wasn't on the menu. Never had a problem getting what we wanted. We had such a good room service guy that even if I forgot to write it down he brought it anyway.. lol

AryMay Posted February 27, 2017 #19 Share Posted February 27, 2017 CB First off...thank you so much for taking the time to post all of this! So helpful for anyone (like us!) planning a cruise on the Caribbean Princess and often it is information that is hard to find ahead of time. I just wanted to clarify the information included in the Welcome Aboard letter concerning dining. I understand that the Palm Dining Room is strictly for traditional dining, but does the Coral Dining Room also have traditional dining from 5:30 to 7:30 pm? When I booked our cruise, our documents show we are confirmed for 6 pm traditional dining. Any idea which dining room we would be assigned to? And one last question after looking at the deck plans...does going from the Piazza on deck 5 to the Palm Dining room on Deck 6 require going up to deck 7...walking to the back of the ship...and then going back down to the dining room on deck 6? It looks like the galley is blocking a direct route on deck 6. Thanks again for all of the great information. I will be following along as you continue your review!! We were assigned the Palm Dining room as we had early traditional. In the cruise planner before the cruise, the time was either 5:45 or 6:00PM as can't see it now. They did use some of the tables for anytime as there were three tables around us, that different people sat at every night. We had a table for two, and I overheard a passenger talking to a table mate, that since more people were going with Anytime dining, they were putting them at the open tables. They were arriving anywhere from 5:45 to 6:30PM. As far as getting to the Palm dining room, it is on deck #6 and at the very bottom of the back staircase. They usually keep this blocked off from deck 7 to deck 6 back there during the day as I believe there are doors used by the crew and they don't want people down there outside dining times. When I get to the patters, the dining rooms & times are listed on the back.

From there, you can download it & zoom in to see it better. I have a large monitor and don't always know how well these look on other devices. The "suite" breakfast menu looks the same as the regular menu (IIRC) only it's got red print instead of blue/black. A suite passenger can order from room service anything on the MDR breakfast, lunch, or dinner menu during the times that the MDR is open. Your room steward will deliver the dining room menus to your room if you ask. This works only during the hours when the MDR is open. When the MDR is closed, then suites can only order from the same room service menu as everyone else.
