bethhorn Posted March 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2017 Hi. We are flying out of FLL after cruising on Royal Caribbean... If we book a 10:20am flight, are we going to wind up stressing out about missing it? Or is it doable? Obviously, we'll disembark and head right to the airport. Thanks in advance. Due a Search on this board for LOTS of good thoughts on this recently. Short answer - if everything goes right and you hurry off, you can make it. But again, do you want the stress. fishywood Posted March 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) If you are on the Allure or Harmony which docks at Berth 18 and usually starts disembarkation before 6:30 you should be OK. But if returning on a Saturday or Sunday on a different RCI ship which will have to dock at Berth 29 you will want at least another hour to be safe. Either way you need to know what your Plan B is: when is the next flight your carrier could put you on? For many of the non-legacy budget airlines at FLL that would be the next or even following day. ETA an additional caveat: Are you able to do self-carry walkoff? Are you checking bags on the flight? If not "yes" and "no" respectively you have some major stress to consider. nhraformula00 Posted March 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2017 We always stay a day before and a day after because of this. 95 % of the time you will be ok but delays happen. I would check and see how many ships will be in port the day you back, sometimes there are as many as 8. The port will be extemly busy with that amount. JohninDC Posted March 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2017 For a 10:20 flight you need to be at FLL by about 8:50 -- 8:30 or earlier is better as TSA on busy days at FLL is nothing but chaos. A taxi from PE to FLL takes about 15 min. If there are not delays, and if you carry your bags off and if are clear of customs/immigration NLT 8-8:15 you should be okay. Do you want to spend your cruise worried about making your flight home? do yourself a favor and book a flight leaving at noon or later, or take the advice above and stay an extra day on vacation!
