Was wondering if you have to download an app before using this service on the Regal? Do you automatically get hooked us when you board the ship?

 

The app is no longer available. Princess@Sea will autlomatically show up on your browser when the ship is out at sea via Wi-Fi. It is an intranet system. If you have internet minutes or have bought an internet package, you log on and off via this intranet page.

Extremely simple to use. Directions will be in the Patter or you can go to the Internet Cafe and get assistance there. You can always just Google Princess@Sea and get all the information you need.

They suggest turning Airplane mode on and then enabling WIFI so that you don't start using the onboard mobile network. Any attempt to access any website will divert you to Princess@sea until you start an Internet connection, via that site.

 

It's very easy to use. If you can do only shopping you can do this. First connection asks for a few details from your card and you can then use it to see your spending onboard.

There's no app to download...you simply open your device's web browser & it connects you to the free P@S intranet site on the ship. :)

 

Here's the description from their website:

 

"Getting started with Princess@Sea is easy. Simply connect to the ship’s WIFI once onboard, open the browser on your computer, tablet, mobile phone or other device, and Princess@Sea will be the default page that appears. It even operates in "Airplane Mode". No cellular or data charges required!"

Princess@sea is actually a web page which your device homes to. Internet connection is made through a menu choice. Wifi is connected all the time to use the site (intranet). Internet minutes are only charged after logging in to the internet. One disappointment is the lack of notifications when using message features. Unless you continually check your messages there is no way to tell a family member recently tried to contact you.

Hubby and I LOVE Princess@sea. We've used it on two different cruises and were very happy with all the features, especially the view of on-board charges, which is updated in minutes after an on-board purchase is made.

I understand from a recent post that you can also use the app for room service.

Princess@ sea has it's good and bad points. Like all shared internet bandwidth you are subject to Satellite issues and combined usage constraints. Meaning that you might not get to browse as fast and as often as you would like. Typically if you need to get something done, try using it during off hours (when others are eating or being entertained) or late/early mornings. Otherwise you get a mixed performance and connections.

Durning heavy periods you may not be able to logoff, like you should. This will cause you to eat up your minutes. Make sure you see that logoff successful message. If you find that you've lost minutes due to that problem, go down and reclaim your time with the person in charge.

Also be advised that if you use vpn software there is a good chance that you will not be logged off completely. Although Princess says that they prevent the usage of this, I found that it is not entirely true.

You're confusing the ship's internet system used for accessing email & the web with the Princess@Sea intranet which is the free onboard system described in the link I shared in post #5.

 

It doesn't use satellite internet bandwidth unless you use it to sign in to your account to use paid minutes to access the internet. But that's great information for anyone accessing the internet.

They've added additional functions such as purchasing Future Cruise Deposits & ordering room service by using the free P@S intranet system.
