ckiggins Posted March 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Just off the Pearl's 10-night Panama Canal cruise. We left, I believe, two guests in Puerto Limon on Monday night because they didn't make it back to the ship for all aboard. Kept calling for them and they never showed. The F&B director was out on deck talking to a guest when we blew the lines promptly at 7pm and left...he said they were left there. Anyone have any scoop on what happened? Junonia Posted March 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2017 I don't know what happened to your fellow passengers but I had a similar experience on the Pearl in the same port! The Captain waited an hour for the late-comers to arrive. It had to do with ship's time vs local time. I remember it was very confusing for us as well and we cut our day short to be sure we made it to the ship. I'll be interested in hearing what happened this time around ! ckiggins Posted March 23, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Puerto Limon is no place you want to be left, either! It's only redeeming quality was the free wifi! :p

Son of a son of a ... Posted March 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Does each port have a cruise line agent? I've seen the name, address, and phone in dailies (I think or it could have been Carnivals fun times). What is the agent's job? If you miss the ship, will this person help? Always wondered what happened to people left behind. Good reason to take Passport and C/C with you when you leave the ship!
Homosassa Posted March 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2017 Cue the "passport argument" in 3...2... What argument? Costa Rica requires cruise ship passengers to have a passport. Hopefully, the passengers either had their passports with them or the ship personnel located the passports and left them ashore for them. Nearest airport is in San Jose, about a 2-3 hour ride away. Once the ship pulls its gangplank, most port agents quickly pack up and go home.
