European port VAT

I wonder whether the European port VAT will still be added on after Brexit? Are the moment you pay this tax on his bought on the ship of your on their area (10% on drink in Spanish waters).

Of course it could get worse :(

Brexit will not affect it for round trips completely within the EU (e.g. Barcelona to Barcelona).

 

It may change for sailings out of Southampton - it may remove the need for the stop in Guernsey or Gibraltar to fall outside the VAT zone. I have not heard or read of any speculation as to how VAT may be affected by Brexit.

 

 

What it may mean is that we may get duty-free allowances back (for what they were worth) for ex-Southampton sailings to the Med..

 

One thing that is almost certain - the Government will be better off - we will be worse off!
