shallwe Posted April 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 1, 2017 I wonder whether the European port VAT will still be added on after Brexit? Are the moment you pay this tax on his bought on the ship of your on their area (10% on drink in Spanish waters). Of course it could get worse :( Sent from my Moto G (4) using Forums mobile app
wowzz Posted April 1, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 1, 2017 I don't think that this issue is high on the list of the negotiators at the moment. Sent from my SM-T700 using Forums mobile app

Adammara Posted April 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 2, 2017 More worrying, there is talk of the EU introducing an ESTA type system in due course, at a cost of course!

It may change for sailings out of Southampton - it may remove the need for the stop in Guernsey or Gibraltar to fall outside the VAT zone. I have not heard or read of any speculation as to how VAT may be affected by Brexit. What it may mean is that we may get duty-free allowances back (for what they were worth) for ex-Southampton sailings to the Med.. One thing that is almost certain - the Government will be better off - we will be worse off!
