vmarq Posted April 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 3, 2017 Just heard there have been multiple explosions in the subway in St. Petersburg, Russia. Since we will be there in a couple months and touring the subway system, this is a little concerning. Will have to await further details.
Lynnees Posted April 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 3, 2017 There was 1 explosion with a second bomb found and defused. This has been happening off and on for the last several years in Russia. When we were there, we entered the subway system but did not get on the subway. We were down there to see the opulence of the art work and how they do their subway system. Ladybuggers Posted April 3, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 3, 2017 On the Regal last year we did the 2 day St. Petersburg tour with Alla. We were down in the subway system and we also rode on the subway. I saw the news and thought wow i was just there less then a year ago. :*(

rurn0321 Posted April 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 3, 2017 When we did the tour also with ALLA we did go down to the station and also rode the subway. Very impressive and quite beautiful. Really a shame this has happened.
Blue Bonnet Posted April 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2017 have also been in those subway stations and rode it with Alla Tours twice ( great company, BTW, had marvelous guides with excellent English). A fellow cruiser was pickpocketed on the subway- he never suspected or felt a thing!
ar1950 Posted April 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2017 Very unfortunate. These things seem to now be a sign of the times that we live in.
DrivesLikeMario Posted April 4, 2017 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2017 We were in London a week after the horrific subway bombings in July, 2005. Never seen so many police around! We had worked out an "escape plan" of sorts with our sons. If anyone got on the train that had a black backpack (what they had used for most of the bombings) or that was sweating profusely, acting strangely or suspiciously, we would simply walk off at the next station. No fuss, just walk off and get out. We didn't want them saying out loud, "But this isn't our stop!", etc. It worked great and thankfully, we never had to use that plan. That's what life today is like. You have to be aware and a little cautious - but still LIVE. ;)
