Venice to Barcelona? Cruise ending in Venice and picking up another in BCN next day?

Looking at a variety of cruise combinations and am leaning toward taking a 7 day cruise starting and ending in Venice in September or October and taking another cruise from Barcelona the next day.

It appears we would have over 24 hours to get from Venice to Barcelona.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what method of travel? From what I can see online, there are rather cheap flights from Venice to Barcelona. Has anyone had any experience doing this?

TIA

Definitely fly. You can get frequent and really cheap flights within Europe and the flight will only be a couple of hours - giving you longer in either of the cities. Just be careful of which airport you fly from in Venice (it should be Marco Polo and not Treviso which one of the cheap carriers uses). Also make sure you book a direct flight, as some of them stop in Madrid.

Spanish airline VUELING has several non-stop flights a day between VCE and BCN. Flight time is just 2 hours.

The VUELING flights are also a code share of Iberia (The Spanish national airline) and British Airways. So all 3 airlines sell the seats.

Prices can vary considerably depending on which airline you look.

Be aware that VUELING is a "low cost" airline. Their base price is very cheap, but adding checked in luggage, seat selection etc etc the cost goes up quickly. Booking through BA may work out cheaper

Fly but keep in mind the luggage weight limitations for both checked and carryon. Found out the hard way on Vueling a couple of years ago to the tune of $400. Also remember that Marco Polo is a small airport compared to others. Bummer.

I'm looking at B2B in 2018 but starting in BCN....flying to Venice likely on Ryan to Treviso. Anyone have experience getting from Treviso to Venice ports?

I am going to try to fly with just my carryon. I may be able to do it. No formal nights on the cruise ship and I might be ok.

Thanks for the reply!!

Also check the prices through Iberia. We have found that sometimes their prices are better than BA for the same flight. Especially for flights to or from Spain.

Also, check the website for the size of the carryon they allow. It may be smaller than in US flights.
