Florisa1228 Posted April 9, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2017 We are planning a trip on the Koonigsdam, but we love to dance before going to dinner with the Band at Ocean Bar. Does anyone knows if the Kooningsdam has The Band at the Ocean Bar?
Lovely other Posted April 9, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 9, 2017 No band at the Ocean Bar, just a pianist. There is usually the musicians of the Lincoln Centre playing before dinner and BB Kings afterwards
jhsocal Posted April 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2017 From what has been posted on CC boards, the band has or will not be playing on Vista Class ships, either.
Sea Belle Posted April 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2017 I feel strongly that this is a mistake on HAL's part to do away with dance music in the Ocean Bar. There really is very little entertainment during the cocktail hour before late dining.
Rare StartrainDD Posted April 10, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2017 Unless things have changed, there was no live music other than Classical (Lincoln Center stage) or a pianist (Ocean bar) until 9:00 PM, at whch time both B B King's and Billboard would start. We are younger than the average HAL guest, but tend to get up early and retire early. This was a tremendous disappointment on our cruise on the Koningsdam. We do not intend to sail her again. Performance timing may be different on other ships but I understand that any ship with B B Kings no longer has the Ocean Bar band. B B Kings is usually not easy for us to dance to. The K in Oct. was our first experience with the entertainment void during the cocktail hour. Then we were on the O last month and it had been converted to the same hours/entertainment as the K. We are on the A next month and look forward to a cruise where "improvements" have not been made yet. Some changes are good but this one doesn't please me.
