Oceana Balcony Cabins

Considering a cruise on Oceana. Usually we book a balcony cabin with a larger balcony, usually deck C so our DD can join us without feeling cramped.

Which deck has the larger balcony cabins on Oceana? or do they not have a particular deck.

If not where will I find the larger balconies?

All balconies at the SIDES of the ship on Oceana are generally the same size, depthwise. If you need bigger there are two reasonable options; get a Balcony Cabin overlooking the wake at the stern or get a mini-suite, on the sides, where your balcony depth will be the standard but you get double frontage and two lots of patio doors leading out onto the balcony. In my opinion the Oceana mini-suites are among the best in the P&O fleet. Obviously Suites are bigger too.

Thanks for prompt reply. Are all balconies covered or do they vary by deck?

Oceana Balconies are of the "Hole cut out the side of the ship" type. Big hole with Wooden rail across and a few metal bars across to prevent falling through. The ships sides are vertical and therefore you will always have a roof, so as to speak. The size of the mini-suite aperture is larger than standard Balcony Cabins on the sides of the ship with the mini-suite and you get two as your mini-suite is double fronted seawise.

At the aft of the ship the rear wall of the ship is sometimes vertical, D deck rear, but on the two higher decks, C deck and B deck the rear wall of the ship slopes thus you are more exposed. All the rear balconies, are the best, being of a squarer and more social shape but they are few in number and more expensive. Do not worry about any talk of "Obstructing posts or beams" on rear balconies as they are unobtrusive in reality. Google Oceana rear view and balconies and you will see what I mean.

The aft mini suites have large, deep balconies. The largest ones are the two on C deck. You could probably get at least a dozen people out there - in fact we had 10 people out there on one occasions to a pre-dinner drinks do. The aft minis are a completely different shape from the midship ones. As someone said they are just like two balcony cabins joined together so the balcony is long and narrow. We think the aft minis on Oceana are among the best in the fleet. In fact the aft minis on Oceana are bigger than the suites on both Ventura and Azura - we've been in both and would much rather have the Oceana C deck minis.
