I was surprised to hear that people actually got off ship. ??? What the heck?? You are still on the ship getting an amazing discount and you are on VACATION!! We would have stayed also!

I would have been excited about Key West (even though I grew up in Miami) because my favorite sandal store is there! I only have ~20 pair and always need more. ;p If you ever want amazing handmade leather sandals go to Kino Sandals. I am slightly obsessed with them. I have pairs from the 90's that are still in great shape and soooooooo comfortable.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your trip!

I know right! Heck I would have stayed even if we stayed docked in mobile for 4 days! I know they are kicking themselves now since we went to key west. I wish I had known about the sandal shop. I will look that shop up next time I am on a cruise that ports there.

LOL. As long as I am on the ship, I don't care where we go!

Here is a link to the shop. https://kinosandals.com/ Lily, Chain, and Chancletica are my absolute favorites! They have more colors in store (they only in past few years started a website) than you can get online. I have the Spider but still have not broken them in. They do have a period of "breaking in" but once they mold to your feet they are heaven!! They have added a few more new ones since I last sent my brother to Key west to get me more. LOL Think another trip is in store!

We woke up around 10:30 and got ready for our day in key west. We went up to lido and ate lunch and waited for the announcement we could get off the ship. We didn't have anything planned for the day. Carnival did offer some excursions but none that interested us. We just planned to get off the ship and walk around and see if we could find something to do. As we got off the ship you are at a dock and there were different vendors offering tours like jet skis, bike rentals, train tour around town. We walked out to the Main Street and just headed for the town. We stopped and asked a guy at the information booth if there was a nearby beach. He said to walk down 4 blocks and we would run into it. So we decided to go check it out. We came across the beach and it was very small. There was a small restaurant/bar. Tables and chairs and loungers on the beach. Loungers were $10 but tables and chairs were free if you ordered something. We found a table and sat as D went directly for the water. We ordered some drinks, sat back and relaxed and watched him play in the ocean. As the day progressed the beach got very crowded and we decided to head back to the Main Street and do some shopping. We shopped and bought some souvenirs and decided to head back to the boat to the waterslide. We docked at noon and were to be back in the ship by 5. We got back on about 3:30 and had the waterslide to ourselves. We sat out on the deck and watched us pull away from key west. I would like to go back to key west when I have time to research things to do. It was a beautiful little town but I am a planner and not real big on just getting off and going with the flow. We did enjoy our day and I am glad that we had the opportunity to go to key west. We got ready for dinner, dropped dalton off at kids club at 7 and we went to the dining room. We went to the adult comedy show, casino, night club, and piano bar. We enjoyed all of these venues. The cruise director Micky hosted a 70s sing along in the atrium bar and he is so fun and so full of energy. We had a blast!! If you go on the Fantasy do not miss this. He also did an 80s one the last night. They are not to be missed.

I definitely would have stayed as well. I love sea days. Is the 50% off of a future cruise based on 50% of this modified sailing or 50% of whatever sailing you choose? Does it have to be used on another 2 - 5 day cruise?

I had early dining because my mom is diabetic and needs to eat at about the same time every day. I wanted to be in the Jubilee dining room because I loved sailing on the Jubilee. We had Donovan as an assistant waiter and he was hilarious. He was always trying to get some the ladies at our table to dance with him.

Did Mikey say he was from South Africabama?

Did you go to Mikey's morning show? I am wondering if there is still a delay between them and the tv monitor above the stage.

The only negative I have to say about Mikey is that he let an unmarried couple into the Love & Marriage show on the 12/26/16 sailing. That isn't a big deal, but it did bug me and a few others.

Great positive review. I would have definitely stayed on the ship too and taken the credits but what a great bonus to get key west. That stop is still on our to do list. Enjoyed the pictures as we are sailing the Fantasy in February. The wife and I sailed her in about 2001 so excited to see the changes. Our son has not been on a fantasy class yet but I think every other class so he is actually looking forward to it too.

We had that same 50% off this cruise and 50% off the next one happen to us in 2016. We sailed out of Tampa and DS was looking forward to his first time in Cozumel. Port of Tampa closed due to fog..we lost a day and couldn't make Coz so we got the same deal. Lots of people did get off the ship...I thought WHY? LOL it's a vacation!!!! Glad the Birth Certificate worked out for you!!! Gosh I was nervous for you! We sailed out of Mobile on the 3rd cruise they did out of there last November. It was chaos and a madhouse. The FTTF line was taking longer than the regular line. It was just chaos. We sail again in June so I hope it's wayyyy better this time!

From the way I understand it we are getting 50% of our cruise fare back in the cruise and that same amount credit for a future cruise. So basically this cruise was free. I didn't make it up in time to go to his morning show. But I do know I absolutely loved him!!!

Our first time on the Fantasy was before the upgrades too. I really do think you will like her. If your son is younger you will really enjoy waterworks being in the back with tons of chairs. On the dream its in the middle and no where to sit. I was not comfortable letting him loose on the slides on the dream because we could not sit and watch. Did not have that problem on the Fantasy. Have a great cruise!!! Here is a picture of when we got back on the ship from key west. He practically had the slides to himself. c74052f672e3e122a6b26f950730a8c9.jpg

I think they have it together now. At least they did for us. And with the ship late getting in you would have thought it would have been chaotic. I still can't believe I didn't take the birth certificate! I hope y'all have a wonderful cruise!

So the last sea day was basically the same for us as the other days. We did the pool, waterpark, ate, drank and relaxed. I didn't go to any of the stage shows, not really our thing. Everyone on the cruise was given 3 bingo cards for a chance to win a 7 day cruise. So we did go play bingo that day. They also gave away free drinks in the atrium bar to everyone on board as a thank you for staying on the cruise. And I don't mean 1 drink, they had waiters walking around handing out beer, wine and daiquiris. We were on cheers so I didn't need one but on the way to the dining room a waiter handed me a glass of wine so I took it. Again I think they went over and beyond to make everyone happy on this cruise. After dinner we did the 80s sing along with Mikey and it was so much fun. Do not miss this if you are on this ship. Another thing I will mention is something I always like to do and that's go to the same bartender if I can. The first day I try and find one I really like, talk to them and then I tip them $1 in cash most of the time I order. My bartender was Eduardo and he was mainly in the red frog pub. He did float around some and I would normally go look for him and always get him to make my drinks. He was so sweet and when he was in the back bar by the comedy club I would tell him to surprise me and he would always come up with a great drink for me. If I had to say one thing that I really missed on Fantasy is the alchemy bar. I really enjoyed that bar on the magic. So when he would make me special drinks that did remind me of the alchemy. So that's it, we had a great cruise, I am really happy with carnival on all they did to accommodate their passengers on this cruise. And if you are thinking about booking Fantasy go ahead and do it. I know she is smaller and old, but you wouldn't know it to look at her. I had more fun on her than the dream and the magic that we did last year. Thank you all for reading along with me. Thinking back about our cruise helped me get over the sadness I feel about going back to work. Lol. If you have any questions just let me know and I will try and answer them if I can!

And I forgot to mention the last sea day was Easter. They did have a church service in the library at 9am. They also gave out bags to the kids and a map of all the locations they were handing out candy. And of course the Easter Bunny was on board. 8c1ccd09bda463e4bf03e1dbf1c070e7.jpg
