Rare mking8288 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #76 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Here's Gem's Day 4 - GSC Dailies. Concierge letter again, reminder about priority tendering in morning, so it sound like we are going to get on the island. Quite windy here, forecast for Nassau isn't good, so we will go with the flow. via Nexus 5X on Nougat 7.1.2 using Tapatalk, VPN secured.
canvasowl Posted May 2, 2017 #77 Share Posted May 2, 2017 How has the pool been? Able to get a seat in the afternoon or are people still claiming chairs early in the morning and walking away?

dexddd Posted May 2, 2017 #79 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Use your cell phone for time. I am sure that you must have one with the time/date. Even a flip phone has one. Safety first, right. ;) I'm not sure where the reference to cell phone and checking for time came into play as I never mentioned it. The intent of my reference to the posting re electronics IS about safety. I found it odd that the Gem found it so important back in Dec. to post about unattended electronics and made note on the front of the Dailies each day but the rest of the fleet has been quiet up until recently. If it was so important, why wasn't it fleet wide all at the same time late last fall?
dexddd Posted May 2, 2017 #80 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Seas are looking pretty tame per webcam - couple more hours and then we'll know if you made it to GSC.

bermudagal56 Posted May 2, 2017 #82 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Thank you so much for all your posts, updates and pictures! I will be on the gem next week. Just a quick question. Is there a special order of getting tendered to GSC or is it first come ? did you have to sign up and get a number? Last year on the breakaway we had to sign up and got a number assigned. Rare mking8288 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #83 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Live now from GSC, we made it. Concierge has priority tender for us. Island has active cell tower, using BTC signal to roam. Otherwise pickup a # or use shorex ticket info on when to go ashore. It showered on us twice now, sun is out again, 82 deg F. Try the new taco stand and posts some pics of it when you get back please. It wasn't there the last time we went.
Mike A Posted May 2, 2017 #88 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Thank you so much for the great review with dailies and pictures. I was watching the Port Cam in Port Canaveral last night and was wondering why the ship did not leave until 10:10. Now we know why. Did you ever hear what happened to those who did not make it back on the ship? Anyway, thanks again and look forward to sailing on the Gem on 5/20. Rare mking8288 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #89 Share Posted May 2, 2017 @mike, sorry to see folks left behind & did not hear what happened. I can confirm we have Sprint, T-Mo & Project Fi cellular services on GSC. In fact, back on the ship & still on BTC's 3G roaming. We are set to sail at 7 pm from GSC. Rare mking8288 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #90 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Large cabanas still being worked off the main beach area. Some loungers are shaded under the trees but far from beachfront. Lagoon is still off limits under construction. Tendering & the Gem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Aldeya Posted May 2, 2017 #92 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Thank you so much for the dailies, pictures and all the details! We are going in a month so I'm making notes:) We have $50 excursion OBCs and would like to rent a clam shell on GSC. Did you use your cruise card for renting the clam shells? I'd love to use at least part of OBCs for this but I'm not sure if I have to book them on the ship or I can do it on the beach? Thanks!

Rare mking8288 Posted May 2, 2017 Author #96 Share Posted May 2, 2017 Yes, you can use OBC to pay or rent clamshell as it's charge to onboard account. They don't deal w credit card. With the Gem, GSC isn't crowded as not everyone go ashore. You can reserve them onboard, we just wing it & book 3 on the beach ... not knowing about our luck for tendering. Then, it showered twice on us for 20 minutes but we stayed & sheltered in the clams. via Nexus 5X on Nougat 7.1.2 using Tapatalk, VPN secured.
