Most smoker friendly Carnival ships.

Recommended Posts

All the ships we've sailed since the banned balcony smoking had areas like the one pictured in post 24. Very nice seats, tables under an over hang. It still gets pretty windy out there, but it is a nice place to have a smoke with other smokers. I think they have added these areas to the starboard sides of deck 3 & 10 on most ships. Carnival's web site lists the smoking decks for each ship. We try to book a cabin close to the designated smoking area for an easy walk to have our smoke.

Smoking area on Conquest Deck 10, Nice area with overhang and comfy chairs/couches with tables

I don't remember this setup at all from my Conquest cruise. Perhaps it has been revamped since.

I was recently on the Conquest, last month. The smoking "area" (more like "side of the ship") was great. On deck 10 (one deck above Lido), they had a very big area dedicated to smoking. Pipes and cigars are allowed as well. Nice furniture, view of the sea.....very nice. It extended quite a long way along that side of the ship and was not enclosed and was not just a small "area" but yet was aft so I don't think non-smokers were affected (like they are in the casino or in other areas that are close to non-smoking areas). Just right below and a few steps down the stairs on deck 9 was the Blue Iguana Tequilla Bar and Red Frog Rum Bar as well as the buffet, Guys Burgers, Swirls, etc. So you could easily bring drinks and food up to the deck 10 smoking area (tables are also available in the deck 10 smoking area) and relax. I have never been on the other Conquest class ships so I do not know if it is the same on them.

Thank you for this information!

We were on the victory (hubby smokes). We stayed on deck 7 mid ship and it was very convent for him. 2 decks down the stairs by us and he was in the casino and could smoke. There was a really nice outside area on deck 10 with lots of chairs, tables and couches, and there was an area on deck 3 just outside the lobby. Very few people went out there so it was nice and quiet. They had some deck chairs out there too.

Well the friendly smoking bar you mentioned on the Victory(I believe) is what used to be the Jazz lounge on the Conquest class ships. All the Conquest ships that I have been on (I'm a Cigar smoker) have this lounge as an indoor smoking cigar bar/lounge. This is located Deck 5 Aft Port side. It has a closing glass door and they have put in smoke scrubbers. I am really shocked by how few people actually know of this space. I have been told they are on all Conquest Ships but the ones that I have been on and have used this cigar bar are : Triumph (not Conquest ship) Freedom, Conquest. NOT The LIBERTY BTW, it does have this lounge but it is non-smoking. From your post OP I will add Victory to this list.

Other good ships would be the Vista. They have a very nice out door smoking area. The casino .. not so much (not that they allow cigars int he casino for some dumb reason..) the ventilation in the Vista casino bar is not great.

The MAGIC and Breeze have out good door smoking areas Magic - red frog pub outside where you can get bar service and Breeze -ocean plaza outside where you can have bar service. the Breezes red frog bar is close enough to the area that if you flag one down and tip them the first time, they come by if you are out there.

I am booked on the Valor in July.. hopefully they will have the cigar bar open as it is too hot to smoke a cigar outside in July. Whereas a cigarette can be smoked in a few minutes and the heat can be tolerated for that long. A cigar and a whiskey can be an hour long proposition.

Hope that helps.

There are plenty of other cruise lines that don't allow smoking in the casino. You are free to choose one of those.

The op was specifically asking about what ships worked well for smokers. Why come here and post stuff about how NASTY it is and how it should not impact your cruise? If you don't have a useful answer for the op then stay out of the discussion. Unless you are trying to cause conflict.

This is why people can't have civil discussions about a legitimate question if it has anything to do with smoking.

Part of the deal is, that the super majority of people no longer smoke, and the numbers are dwindling. The more people talk about how they extremely dislike being inside a ship, with smokers around them, the more the cruise line will realize that maybe allowing smoking inside is not the best idea. Many changes are made in the smoking rules based on customer feedback. So every opportunity to discuss this topic, in a negative way is a way to help create a positive outcome for the majority.

Hi neighbor!! Come down to LSD and I'll show you some lovely bars/restaurants that are on the beach with even more smoker friendly areas/views than the Pride

HAHA, I'm considered LSD too. But have to admit, any view from a cruise ship is a lot prettier than what we have.

I really enjoyed the smoking section on deck 10 starboard on the Glory. It was huge and outside with plenty of seats and tables and cocktail service. I try to be considerate of people who are sensitive to the smoke and this area was separate and comfortable. No need for anyone to be walking by who wasn't there for a smoke.

I second this!! It's a nice area that provides comfortable seating in both the sun and shade.

The fact of the matter is, there will always be smokers and there will always be lots of them. Just because non-smokers out number smokers doesn't mean they have to cater to those who don't smoke. I think Carnival does a great job with their smoking sections, at least the ships I been on did. The Magic had awesome smoking sections and if any cruiseline would ever ban smoking in the casinos, or any other drastic change, they may realize it may not be the best idea.

I use to smoke 18 years ago and was told I have COPD. I bring oxygen with me and normally only use it at night. I am well aware that Carnival allows smoking, however, it will not keep me out of the Casino. I don't like the smell anymore but will never judge the people that smoke as I use to be one. OK my 2 cents worth.

I'm really not sure what ship would be best for smoking. I would say that smoking however really mess up non smokers vacations. I think carnival needs to make separate smoking and non smoking ships or cruises. Its hard to get away from that stinking ashtray smelling casino. All ships filter you through the casino at some point and I gamble as well. I will tell you that smoke stays in your clothes and lingers in the stateroom closet for the entire cruise. Its just nasty. Now I'm not knocking you if you smoke. More power to you I just don't want to be affected by your bad habit. I think carnival should go back to smoking on your balcony as being ok and maybe several out of the way areas of the ship and the casino where everyone goes through at some point should be strictly no smoking. Just my two pennies worth.

If I remember correctly, the Paradise was once a non-smoking ship. Wondering why it didn't stay that way.

Guessing that it was because they couldn't make the profit that they counted upon without smokers or people traveling with smokers in their party being able to book on that ship. Just sayin....

If you've spent any time at all reading the myriad of posts on here regarding smoking on the ship, you'd know that non-smokers are very vocal about the subject. I haven't cruised on every ship in the fleet, but I've been on enough of them to know that there isn't any one particular ship that has what you might call a "best smoking area". The areas where you can and cannot smoke are pretty much the same on every ship. If you're looking for an area where you're least likely to be glared at by non-smokers, try the Starboard side of Deck 3 (Lobby Deck). It's one of the few areas where smoking is allowed, and it's pretty quiet there. Very few people go out there during the day compared to other areas of the ship. Stop by the Atrium bar, get a cocktail, and go get a seat out on the deck. clear.png?emoji-wink-1685

Sorry to hijack this thread but is there a port side on deck 3 off of the lobby for non smokers on every ship? On my last cruise I really loved going out on deck 3 because it was closer to the water than my balcony but it seemed someone was always smoking out there so I always left. Did I just happen to always go out the wrong side or is there not an open port side? (I can't remember)

As a non smoker, I think most of the carnival ships have nice areas for smokers, which is good for me because smokers can have their space and I can have mine. I haven't really noticed much of an issue with smelling smoke from the non smoking areas with the exception of the occasion breeze that sends it down to the aft pool on deck 9.

My only wish is that they wouldn't host activities near the smoking areas. On the Conquest, we wanted to participate in some trivia but it was held at the casino bar/hallway. I went one day for 20 minutes and my clothes smelled terrible after that.

There is a non smoking area on the port side on deck 3, at least on the Conquest class ships and Splendor. Not sure about the others

We just got off the Pride. My husband smokes. A lot. So this was important for him. The casino is full smoking. Now for smokers this is great news. Not so much the kids having to pass thru right thru the middle. But we never heard complaints or complained. Me and our kids would walk quick thru the casino and they held their noses LOL while daddy sat off to side and smoked. Also there was a nice large entire side and half back of the lido deck by the second pool. Nice comfy plush seats as well as coffe tables. No complaints and he went there often to relax and chat with fellow smokers. Always found a spot and again no complainers. So the Pride is a plus for a smoker in my opinion.
