Most smoker friendly Carnival ships.

I realize this thread will bring out plenty of negative comments but the unfortunate truth is some people do in fact smoke cigarettes, cigars, pipes etc. With that being said and hopefully encouraging civility in the thread. Which Carnival ships have the best smoking areas? When I went on the Valor in 2011 there was a great little bar/lounge that I enjoyed a lot because of it's smoker friendly atmosphere and great staff (don't remember the name of the lounge but I do remember the "banana ladies" that decorated it.) Let's talk briefly about Carnival ships with the best smoking areas and please include why such as: bar close, cigars allowed, good view, away from public scorn etc.

As far as being away from public scorn, there isn't any place. Outside on the Panorama deck on one side is a smoking section. Non-smokers will pass by that area and still make snide remarks even though they can avoid that area. Seen it too many times. Or worse yet, non-smokers will come and set in that area and complain about the smoke.

If you've spent any time at all reading the myriad of posts on here regarding smoking on the ship, you'd know that non-smokers are very vocal about the subject. I haven't cruised on every ship in the fleet, but I've been on enough of them to know that there isn't any one particular ship that has what you might call a "best smoking area". The areas where you can and cannot smoke are pretty much the same on every ship. If you're looking for an area where you're least likely to be glared at by non-smokers, try the Starboard side of Deck 3 (Lobby Deck). It's one of the few areas where smoking is allowed, and it's pretty quiet there. Very few people go out there during the day compared to other areas of the ship. Stop by the Atrium bar, get a cocktail, and go get a seat out on the deck. clear.png?emoji-wink-1685

I was on the Triumph in 2015 and the Fascination in 2016. I preferred the smoking areas on the Triumph as there seemed to be more areas. The Fascination did not have a deck 3 (Lobby) area where you could step outside and smoke, but the Triumph did. After dinner in the MDR we would go out there and smoke.

I have found the casino bars to be okay (usually at one end only) and I spend most of my time in the casino where I can smoke at the designated slot machines. DH and I were shocked when Carnival banned smoking on balconies because they are outside for heaven's sake! Carnival has lost us as almost always Grand Suite customers and now we only book ocean view since we can't smoke on balconies. We are going on our 28th Carnival cruise this month and have an ocean view near the mid-ship elevators so I can easily go down to the casino bar. Am also bringing an ashtray since they aren't always easy to find. I just try to ignore the non-smokers who cough-cough or make snide remarks when I'm smoking at a legitimate smoking location.

I really enjoyed the smoking section on deck 10 starboard on the Glory. It was huge and outside with plenty of seats and tables and cocktail service. I try to be considerate of people who are sensitive to the smoke and this area was separate and comfortable. No need for anyone to be walking by who wasn't there for a smoke.

Many years ago I was on the Spirit with my husband and several friends. I don't smoke but husband and couple of my friends do. We were sitting at a smoking 3 card poker table and were told by the other patrons that my friend could not smoke. He is nice so he didn't. I pointed out, politely that they were sitting at a smoking table and could go elsewhere. They wouldn't go because the non smoking table was full. That's their choice and if I had been the smoker I would have lit up. I hate cigarette smoke also, but rules state you can smoke in certain areas. I avoid those areas when not with my husband or friends.

Just off the Pride. She has a nice smoking seating area with comfy chairs & tables at the side FWD pool, right behind Red Frog Rum Bar. Yes, next to the pool and tons of people & children were there, but I never heard any complaints. Great view of the ocean, windows open for a breeze & easy to get a drink. And then open deck 10 directly above if you want to lay in the loungers to get some sun.

The deck 10 smoking area on the Sunshine is great! Lots of chairs, small tables for your drinks, cocktail service, umbrellas and couches back under the overhang. The only complaint was that there were very few ashtrays.

Agree and the same on Splendor....

Splendor was great since they had the Cool Lounge,,,(indoors, deck 5) that welcomed smokers any time of day or night. That was a few years ago so I don't know if it's still around. Lots of cigar smokers in there once they banned smoking on the balcony.

I haven't booked a balcony since the smoking ban either...:(

I was recently on the Conquest, last month. The smoking "area" (more like "side of the ship") was great. On deck 10 (one deck above Lido), they had a very big area dedicated to smoking. Pipes and cigars are allowed as well. Nice furniture, view of the sea.....very nice. It extended quite a long way along that side of the ship and was not enclosed and was not just a small "area" but yet was aft so I don't think non-smokers were affected (like they are in the casino or in other areas that are close to non-smoking areas). Just right below and a few steps down the stairs on deck 9 was the Blue Iguana Tequilla Bar and Red Frog Rum Bar as well as the buffet, Guys Burgers, Swirls, etc. So you could easily bring drinks and food up to the deck 10 smoking area (tables are also available in the deck 10 smoking area) and relax. I have never been on the other Conquest class ships so I do not know if it is the same on them.

Ok, the OP was hoping for a civil thread so as not to bash smokers, how about trying not to bash 'non smokers' and understanding both sides of the issue? There seems to be many responses commenting on inappropriate 'non smoker' responses....let's be kind.

I agree with the person who mentioned the Glory. We found both the Glory and Conquest pretty smoker friendly. Aside from the deck 10 and the casino bar, there is also a bar next to the comedy club that allows smoking (even cigars). We are respectful smoker and simply ignore anyone being snarky when passing thru smoke areas.

Hi neighbor!! Come down to LSD and I'll show you some lovely bars/restaurants that are on the beach with even more smoker friendly areas/views than the Pride

We were on the victory (hubby smokes). We stayed on deck 7 mid ship and it was very convent for him. 2 decks down the stairs by us and he was in the casino and could smoke. There was a really nice outside area on deck 10 with lots of chairs, tables and couches, and there was an area on deck 3 just outside the lobby. Very few people went out there so it was nice and quiet. They had some deck chairs out there too.

I'm really not sure what ship would be best for smoking. I would say that smoking however really mess up non smokers vacations. I think carnival needs to make separate smoking and non smoking ships or cruises. Its hard to get away from that stinking ashtray smelling casino. All ships filter you through the casino at some point and I gamble as well. I will tell you that smoke stays in your clothes and lingers in the stateroom closet for the entire cruise. Its just nasty. Now I'm not knocking you if you smoke. More power to you I just don't want to be affected by your bad habit. I think carnival should go back to smoking on your balcony as being ok and maybe several out of the way areas of the ship and the casino where everyone goes through at some point should be strictly no smoking. Just my two pennies worth.

There are plenty of other cruise lines that don't allow smoking in the casino. You are free to choose one of those.

The op was specifically asking about what ships worked well for smokers. Why come here and post stuff about how NASTY it is and how it should not impact your cruise? If you don't have a useful answer for the op then stay out of the discussion. Unless you are trying to cause conflict.

This is why people can't have civil discussions about a legitimate question if it has anything to do with smoking.

Not trying to elicit conflict in any way, but I truly do not understand why some unhappy non-smokers feel the need to click on threads like these, let alone comment on them. The OP was asking about smoking-friendly ships and descriptions of the areas that they could go to on the these ships. OP was not asking for a debate or unsolicited comments about how smoking should not be allowed. There are numerous other threads for that, lol.

If you want a 100% non-smoking environment then there are many other types of vacations that you can take other than a mainstream cruiseline cruise. Its your choice. I'm a "considerate smoker", opting to not smoke near non-smokers (which is basically all of my family and friends, as well as strangers) but when we are paying just as much for vacations as others, then I see no problem with having a couple of areas that are designated as being smoker-friendly since they can be avoided by non-smokers (I know this as when my children are with me then we are able to avoid). The exception to this is the casino on ships that need to be passed by in order to get to your destination (and other indoor smoking areas on select ships). Which, even though I gamble, I am fine with non-smoking casinos as long as other, nice areas are provided for smoking.

From the ships I have sailed since the balcony smoking ban, I'd have to say the Dream. (Geez, and what the heck were they smoking on the aft deck, lol). And for me, the least user friendly was the Sunshine.

I vape, but I liked Pride, it was definitely comfy. Liberty I did not like so much. It was always so windy. I felt sorry for people actually trying to light up. It wasn't easy.

Thanks for all the input thusfar. I don't mind non-smokers commenting I understand that it is an issue for some, I try to be as polite as reasonable about my habit, one of the reasons I made the thread I understand some are very passionate about it. I enjoy smoking personally and try to keep it for me without affecting others and try to avoid making snide remarks about non smokers like they do me :P

P.S. Working my last shift before I head to NOLA for a much needed cruise.
