Pearl penthouse balcony suite questions

 Share

Recommended Posts

Looking at bidding on a penthouse balcony but have a couple of questions. I realize not many people have seen the suites since the upgrade, but I'm willing to gamble the structure of the rooms hasn't changed. These questions are specific to the Pearl, it won't help me to know the suite setup on other classes of ship.

- I remember seeing something about some suites only being accessible by stairs. Do you have to manage ANY stairs to get to/from the penthouse balconies? Even a rise of a couple of inches would be too much for my scooter.

- Is there a step to enter the bathroom?

- This question unfortunately needs to be answered by someone who has seen it since refurb. The floor plan shows what looks like an upholstered chair near the sofa, but the photo does not show the chair or the coffee table from the floor plan. Did anyone see a chair (or no chair) in their penthouse balcony suite?

Thanks for any responses!

If the suite is on deck 14 it is accessible by the lift with use of your key card in a slot in the lift there is also stairs with a locked door that is opened with your key card

As to steps into the bath I have no idea

The haven sun deck is only accessible via stairs

The haven deck on 14 is flat from the lift same as other floors on the ship

Hope that is a help

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I am asking about the regular suites, not the Haven suites. On the Pearl, they are on decks 9 & 10, forward.

I also forgot to ask whether these are one of the classes where the bed cannot be separated into 2 smaller beds.

Don't know where my brain was!

There won't be any stairs to them they will be completely accessible with a scooter though if it's the forward facing ones under the bridge there is a water tight door to get out to the balcony and I don't think u will be able to drive a scooter over the door frame hope this helps if u want I'll try find a photo of the door

On the forward suites just ask

OP: we were recently in a Deck 10 SE Penthouse suite on the Jewel, one of the Pearl's sister ships. Here's the sea door to the balcony, so you can see the step up/over. Please be aware that this is a very heavy door, and you need to be extremely careful opening it, especially when the ship is underway.

I am virtually certain the bed does not separate in the SE and SF Penthouse suites on the Jewel class ships. A call to NCL should get you that confirmation.

I don't recall a step into the bathroom, but again, I'd ask NCL about that. I can't help on the chair question.

As for steps, though, these suites have a tub/shower combo, and it's pretty high to get over the side of the tub in order to step in. Not sure you are aware of that.

I just noticed last night (after starting this thread) that the bathroom had a tub, which pretty much rules it out for me, as does a bed that doesn't separate. I thought about calling NCL but I've gotten so many incorrect answers from cruise line reps that that is a last resort for me - I figured my chances of correct information were better here. Oh well, I'm still glad I asked, and thanks to everyone who replied. I would hate to have missed a chance at a suite for lack of information.
