Esterobay Posted May 10, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2017 We have cruised on Royal 11 times previously and just booked for Brilliance next March. We travel with extended family and book several cabins at once. For the first time we were not allowed to book a cabin designated triangle or diamond, a cabin that would be able to hold 3-4, for two people. Well, I should say in some cases. They did allow us to book one owners suite with two people but not the other E1 cabins we needed for other family members. Has anyone had this experience and is there any way around it? I can't get Royal to explain the policy to me.
setsail Posted May 10, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2017 No. Seems you already got the correct answer, they are for 3/
Clarea Posted May 10, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 10, 2017 This policy has been in effect for certain categories for at least a couple of years now. One sure way around it is to book the minimum number of people in the stateroom, pay for them, and then have one or more be a no show.
makiramarlena Posted May 10, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2017 Apparently the other way is to wait until they open up 3-4 capacity cabins for booking by 2 passengers, because they apparently will do that if they don't sell a certain number. Doesn't help much. But no, can't get around the capacity limits until that happens unless you pay for the additional person.
Esterobay Posted May 10, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted May 10, 2017 It just seems the policy is a bit random. We booked a cruise for next March while on a cruise last month and the loyalty ambassador booked us in whichever rooms we wanted without mention of this and gave us diamond and triangle rooms for groups of two. We had to switch ships when we returned home because of dates and this is when we hit this wall.
Goodtime Cruizin Posted May 10, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2017 I do believe there were some changes to enforcement about the time new deployments for 2018/2019 came out. It coincided w/ the new category names/titles etc.
