pauletto Posted May 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2017 We are interested in joining a cruise leaving Melbourne towards the end of February, and would be interested to hear if cruisers had experienced good weather at this time of the year in the South Pacific. peter.kath@hotmail.com Posted May 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2017 We have been on 14 cruises mostly March/April and November/December. The Ultimate PNG cruise that I really wanted to only goes in February and we were a bit worried out cyclones and the heat. The seas were calm, and the weather perfect, it was cooler then the 47 degrees that they had here in Tamworth. Last year we did a cruise in March during Cyclone Winston and although it was all around us firstly in Tonga, then Fiji, then Vanuatu we didn't really notice. Rare MicCanberra Posted May 12, 2017 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2017 Storms and cyclones can happen at anytime but tend to happen later in the season towards April.
Rare OzKiwiJJ Posted May 13, 2017 #4 Share Posted May 13, 2017 We did a South Pacific cruise in late March 2015 and had absolutely glorious weather. It was two weeks after Cyclone Pam went through the area. It really is just the luck of the draw. Weather is just too unpredictable.
chesterbear Posted May 13, 2017 #5 Share Posted May 13, 2017 I went early March and it was fine and hot at each port. The sea was fairly calm too on both the ship and tender boats Sent from my iPhone using Forums
