Rare FitchburgWIFamily Posted May 13, 2017 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2017 I'll do a more review later, but for now I just want to say I love the Escape. It was our first time on a big ship and I thought I would hate the crowds but other than the first day we got on the really weren't issues with crowds or elevators or anything. We never had a dining reservation and never had to wait for a table. Getting on and off the boat could not have been easier. My niece had an 11 am flight out of MIA....she walked out of our cabin with her luggage at 7:30 this morning and was in a cab by 8:05. It was cruise director Andre's last Escape cruise, he is going to Europe on the Getaway but he and his staff did a great job for us this week. There were a few small issues, which I will detail in a longer review, but for now I'd have to say that any of the small things that were bad were overshadowed by all the great things that were wonderful. Loved it so much that for the first time, I bought future cruise credits.

QueenOfZoom Posted May 15, 2017 #6 Share Posted May 15, 2017 Andre is leaving????? NO!!! Who will do the Harry Potter trivia? My son was SO looking forward to that! It was fun but in my opinion there were too many 'geek-themed' trivia events (Andre's words, not mine :) )
newmexicoNita Posted May 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted May 15, 2017 OP glad you found you like the larger ships: hubby and I are the opposite, but still had a great time on the Breakaway. Apparently you had some weather issues, we did as well on the Epic and BA recently. As for the smoky casinos, we didn't find them nearly as bad as some had led us to believe. At least we managed to donate money to the casino so it could not be all bad. :p
Rare FitchburgWIFamily Posted May 15, 2017 Author #8 Share Posted May 15, 2017 I ended up starting a new thread for my review: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2499796 One: I made a typo in the title of this one and I couldn't figure out how to correct it. Drove me crazy. An And where I wanted an An. Two: I didn't mean to offend anyone with the comment about the casinos: yes, they are a bit smoky, that is to be expected. What is strange on this ship is how integral the casinos are to the layout of the ship: we walked through them, below them and above them, but because of the beautiful chandeliered three story open space you always were exposed to the casinos. Did it kill me? No. Did I have to wash the smoke out of everything I wore? No. But, could it possibly have been designed a little differently? Of course. I live in a state where smoking isn't allowed in public indoor spaces. I am just not used to the smell anymore. It is not a reason to keep me off this ship in the future. The rainy days (including an all-out flood of epic proportions) I will cover in my other thread.

NCL's loss that there really is not an option for non smokers on these poorly designed ships so that EVERYONE can gamble if they choose. I also mean no offense to smokers as I have family and friends I adore who smoke. I hope to cruise Escape some time. I swore off megaships without trying and when 2 cancels led me to Epic I found I loved it. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
