In your 30's on Carnival

Recommended Posts

We're usually by the pool having some drinks, eating and shootin' the breeze with other guests. During the evening we're bar hopping, hanging out at the casino bar (so we can smoke), just enjoying the atmosphere. We don't usually do the shows, and we don't do set dining. As far as at port, we do the research before we go and have an idea of what we wanna do, but we really just go with the flow.

Our third cruise will be next spring. We have traditions we keep to when onboard. We always get FTTF because we like the convenience of dropping off our stuff before heading to lunch to try something new as soon as we board. Cheers is a must because when on a cruise, enjoy cocktails the entire time. When we're with our kids, port days are filled with adventure (trying something new), sea days are filled with water slides and mini-golf, and every evening we have dinner together as a family. There'a requisite walk about the ship after dinner every night because we find ourselves stuffed to the gills, followed by various shows or the casino...I do like the piano bar for a more intimate experience. Every night is ended with a stop at the Atrium bar to double fist the drinks back to our balcony as we sit and maybe enjoy a late night pizza together. We pretty much do whatever we want whenever we want. There's no schedule...just good quality time together.

We are both 30 and have done 3 longer Carnival cruises (Med, Panama Canal and Baltics) and were still entertained!

We like to mostly do our own thing in port using research and trying all the local crafts, culture and culinary delights. We only do an excursion if it as an experience like going up a volcano or snorkelling.

When back on the ship we usually watch pier runners and the sail away then chill out and have couple time in the cabin while getting ready. Have a earlyish dinner so we can catch a show or comedy with drinks. We also try and do as much Trivia as we can in the day and evening. We also love watching the sunset and drinking up on deck either alone with friends. Every cruise we hit the dancefloor too somewhere on the ship.

On a sea day its Trivia, pools, hot tubs, relaxing and reading but no salons or casinos as they are not our thing. We also like going to cooking demos, wine tastings and spending some time dining somewhere. We will also watch the pool action with a cocktail.

We also bring our Cards against Humanity set on cruises...but being the British one theres some odd cards for other people.

I've cruised twice. I mostly love to enjoy the Serenity deck and read or listen to my iPod. I'll ride the water slide. Enjoy a couple frozen cocktails. One of my favorite things is the movies under the stars. I'll go to the shows at night, but I'm not up late....I'm in bed by 11. I enjoy wandering the ship in the evenings too. Very low key. Daytime is about sunshine, nighttime is low key fun stuff and relaxing.

My vacation is about R&R, not exhausting myself.

This is the thread where I can come and find out everyone's age

Right?

I'm confused about the age thing.

28 -38 year olds like to do some of the same things as 18 year olds, 48 year olds, 88 year olds, and even 8 year olds. But sometimes they like to do things like 27 year olds or 39 year olds, but not always.

Hi, I'm a guy in my early 30s. I cruise with my brother, who is slightly younger than me. We've been on multiple cruises together - as the more organized one, he lets me handle the intinerary.

1. I recommend doing the Cheers Program for booze. It's fantastic.

2. The Comedy Club every night

3. The night club every night (very easy to make friends with others)

4. I appreciate the Adult Serenity deck with no kids

5. I think the art auctions can be fun, even if I'm not buying any art. Just not something you get to do or see every day, plus you get to see some cool stuff.

6. When it comes to ports, I arrange all of own excursions independent of Carnival, by doing thorough investigation and research (the subforums here are helpful). If there's a port where I can't find something I want to do, I go exploring - I head out, maybe grab a cab, and have a local direct me to a nice restaurant or bar where I can take in some local food and/or culture.

I don't think age matters much on cruises. But me and my wife are 32/31 and we got cheers so we had a drink in our hand most the day. Besides drinking we went to the comedy club at night which was hilarious except for one bad set by a guy who then came back the next day and put on a really funny set. We also like the casino cause we don't get to do that a lot where we live, I know she played some machine for hours and she was up or down like $40 at any given time. We also went to every show they put on. We actually made friends with another couple the first night in the comedy club and hung out with them throughout this past cruise. It was fun.

On the tours it will always differ due to likes, not everybody in their 30's likes the same things. My wife is not as great at swimming as me so we didn't do snorkely or anything like that. We did mayan ruin tours, a few beach days, and a dolphin excursion in cozumel which was fantastic.

In other words theres plenty for you to do on a cruise. During the days sometimes you have to make your own entertainment especially on longer cruises but I'm sure you'll manage.

We only have 1 sea day and it's a short cruise. I was looking g for things to do on sea days. We are also going to Half Moon Cay which I haven't seen much to do outside of beach day and the carnival excursions. I have been to Nassau I know what we can do there. Most see days I like to relax and people watch and drink. First time going with my husband. I'm used to going with my best friend...it's a different vibe this time around.

You guys are giving me great ideas. I already had a lot of them on my thing is to do list.

Still contemplating Cheers....I'm not sure I drink that much. My husband might but if I drink that much I'm going to sleep.

Depending on what you typically drink, you can break even on Cheers pretty quick. If you're more of a mixed drink person, it will only take you around 6-7 drinks a day to break even. Sounds like a lot, but if you spread them out over the course of the day, it really isn't hard to do. For example: maybe have a mimosa with breakfast, a couple of frozen cocktails by the pool, a pre-dinner cocktail, glass of wine at dinner and one or two after dinner drinks and you're already there. Plus Cheers includes soda's, specialty coffees, energy drinks and more. Anything up to $50 per drink is included. And for me, I like knowing up front what I'm going to be paying for drinks.

As far as Half Moon Cay, it is one of the best beach days out there! There are hammocks and clamshells to get out of the sun. The water is beautiful and the sand is soft. Haven't been there in a few years, but would love to go back. Maybe check into renting a cabana! Place to keep your stuff, plus it comes with some snacks and refreshments and I believe some floats to use in the water.

My wife and I are both in our 30s. We did all sorts of things on sea days. Brunch, karaoke, bar hopping, water slides, trivia and other games, shows, dive-in movies, eating, browsing the shops, relaxing on the deck (usually with drinks), people watching, comedy shows, piano bar. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of at the moment.

You are not too old to answer the question. What do you do when you are on a Carnival Cruise. I just gave that age range to get a varied response.

Please enlighten me.

I enjoy cruising to get away from the every day stresses of life, therefore, I frequently cruise solo. I like to meet people on the roll call so that at least I know some faces and names, but I'm not obligated to entertain them. My activities (or lack there of) have more to do with me liking to be alone with my thoughts and not having to deal with people. I'm not an anti social person by any means (and many of you that have met me in person or on here know this), but I have a lot going on in my everyday life that I want to escape. Cruising is my mental therapy. Without it I believe I would become a very unhappy, miserable person. We all need alone time whether we want to admit it or not. So cruising is good for me (and you) [emoji4]!

I usually spend the day lounging in the sun for a bit, then go and get some lunch. After that I might see what's going on around the ship and pop in here or there. I'm not into trivia or stuff like that. I do like to sit on Promenade and people watch. A nap is a given at some point. Not because I'm old LOL, but because I don't get much sleep at home. The cruise is my place to recharge and renew. I always have early dinner. After that I'll go back to the cabin for a few to freshen up and then usually visit the casino and check out what's happening in the lobby which is normally a band of some sort. If there's a comedy show I want to see then I get in line early as there's no other choice. If I run into some acquaintances, then we may decide to go to one of the bars or something.

On occasion I'll play Bingo, attend a drawing of some sort, and have been known to get a massage. It really all depends on what I feel like doing. I am not one of those follow a schedule type of people on a cruise. I fly by the seat of my pants and take it one hour at a time. I don't like feeling I have to do something. That's why I love cruising. You know where you're staying, you don't have to worry about where you're going to go for food or how much it's going to cost, and you can do as little or as much as you want.

I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for, but this is my typical cruise.

Oh and I'll add that I try and post on CC and answer any questions anyone has about the ship or give my thoughts on things. I find that helps to clear my mind as well. It's something I really enjoy.

DH and I are 41. We've been cruising with our kids these past few times, so we don't get Cheers since we don't have as much time to just sit and relax with a drink. And we gamble, so we eventually get a few drinks there.

That said, we have done Chef's Table, and loved it. Was the highlight of our cruise. Great for foodies or wannabe foodies.

I have actually met people like you (don't take it the wrong way) on my previous cruises. I get that. I have never cruised alone but that's because I have been in stages in my life where a good time was everything. I take naps everyday when I am on a cruise. Something about the sun plus time to relax. I have a toddler at home so I don't get to relax or get the amount of sleep I am custom to getting. I nap on sea days and early deport from port days. My husband and I are going on this cruise and I just want to make sure he has a great time since it is his first. My friends and I like to do different things so I just want to know what all is out there that I don't attend or don't do that he may be interested in.

I am a layout on the deck with my drink maybe a book and relax time of gal. I like to watch the trivia and the comedy shows. I haven't really been getting in the pools and hot tubs because they are always full with people and more so children. No offense to anyone I don't enjoy the kids in the hot tub. We will see. September can't get here fast enough as I am ready for an adventurous vacation with my husband.

Sounds like we are similar. Firemanbob doesn't cruise anymore because he gets bored too easy. He always has to be doing something and it drives me crazy. I am perfectly content lounging in the sun and then I look over and he has that look like "Really?" Followed by "I can't just sit here all day. I'm going to walk around." With that off he goes. So that pretty much ruins it for me. Solution - leave him at home. We are both perfectly fine with it. I get my relaxation and he gets his vacation from me. Truth be told, he has even said he enjoys when I'm gone so NO PROBLEMO. Adios! Everyone is happy and it's all good [emoji4].

Back when we first started cruising, he had the boys to go with him to the arcade, or they might have played mini golf or stuff like that. We spent time at the pool, went to the shows which were much better back then every night after dinner. Times were different both in our personal lives and in what Carnival had to offer all those years ago. Now I don't enjoy the shows as much. I know many people do, but I don't. I prefer the non Playlist ones. But there's always those to go to.

I say the best thing to do would be to sit down and go over the Fun Times together and see what he wants to do. Sometimes the first cruise can be totally overwhelming because you don't know what to expect. Although I'm sure you have done a great job giving him information, it's different once you step foot on the ship. I'm sure he will have a fantastic time no matter what!

Wife and I both turned 30 this year and our 3rd cruise is coming up in 30 days. For us, It's all about relaxation and freedom from responsibilities. We love to eat every meal we can in the MDR...so nice to be waited on and try different foods! Like early dining so we can have the rest of he night to gamble, people watch and go to the comedy club, then make a late night trip to get pizza or ice cream! Love beach excursions, soaking up the sun and getting a little drunk! Any diet we were on gets thrown overboard on embarkation day. We basically turn into teenagers, but with money and alcohol! 38 here. I'm going on my third cruise later this month.

For my first cruise, I went with my baby sister (29). We went on excursions. We did the YTD. We saw the Hasbro show. While in Nassau, she had her hair braided. Expensive lesson for her to learn to speak up and say no. After getting her hair done, she was depressed and we spent our sea day in the room. It was nice to get some quiet time.

My second cruise, I went with my younger sister (37). The baby sister went on the cruise as well with her husband. The younger sister and I enjoyed ourselves. We hung out and did stuff and then sometimes our baby sister would join us or my sisters did their own thing. Again, we went on excursions all as a family, except for one port. We planned on different things. The baby sister and her husband stayed on the boat once there. Younger sister and I were going to walk around the town on our own, but the baby sister gave us her excursion tickets. My family spent time together, but also enjoyed alone time. I did things like trivia and the other games in the lobby. I had fun doing that. I also went to the shows; younger sister came to one as well. Younger sister loved karaoke nights. Baby sister liked hanging out in her room with her husband. He spent most of his time watching TV in the room. Dinner was family time and we sat with each other. My sisters spent each night watching a movie and having pizza.

Later this month is my 3rd cruise. My younger sister is going with me. We grabbed our excursions. We are people that like to visit and experience new places. When we travel, we are always looking for things to do. I take my camera with me and I like to take photographs as well. We are also going to see a show or two. She'll be doing karaoke. I'll do some trivia. And when we're tired, we'll go rest in the room. I'm looking forward to sitting with strangers at dinner. We agreed that would be something for us. We're going and just have fun.

A cruise is what you make of it. You can have a schedule and be active, or go and relax. My baby sister does the relaxing. I'm a "gotta do somethin'" type of person, so I enjoyed the scheduled activities.
