Bababooey Land Posted June 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2017 Is delayed at Southampton? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
fishywood Posted June 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) According to the Marine Traffic site the next call for CB will be in Cobh on Thursday meaning the call Wednesday morning in Guernsey is cancelled. Forecast is for 40 mph wind gusts so not surprising a tender port call was pre-scuttled. Appears to have been raining most of the day in Southampton but shows clear and dry at this hour (02:00 BST) though quite cool (54F).. My only guess is that if embarkation and/or provisioning was slow due to the weather they may have just decided to wait for morning to sail away. fishywood Posted June 7, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 7, 2017 (edited) One other highly speculative scenario: if departure was delayed there might not be another harbor pilot available until the next morning. Would hope otherwise for a port with the volume of Southampton but have personally experienced that scenario for an arrival in Hamburg, so could be. Edit--Stop Press! OOPS--SCRATCH THE ABOVE. She is underway! Making 9.5 knots in The Solent at 03:20 BST. Edited June 7, 2017 by fishywood
oatbagg1 Posted June 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2017 We were delayed in Southampton May 25 due to late arrivals from Heathrow to the port. There were enough passengers stuck in traffic that the ship waited. We were 90 minutes or so late in leaving.

There were enough passengers stuck in traffic that the ship waited. We were 90 minutes or so late in leaving. There is another thread saying that the September Trans-Atlantic itinerary has been changed significantly (eliminated some ports, switched some others) due to a CB propulsion problem that will not allow the ship to go the needed speed. Do you know what the problem might be? If not, can you try to find out?
