Devildog54 Posted June 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Does anyone have knowledge of the weather in late August for the above. We are thinking of taking a sailing on Silver Cloud 11 and wonder how rough it might be on a sailing ship?
CruiserBruce Posted June 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2017 Welcome to Cruise Critic! The seas are not predictable. They could be rough, smooth, or, most likely somewhere in between. If you have issues with sea sickness, you MUST be prepared everyday you are on a ship. As to weather, a Google search of a couple of your ports (for example, Google "Lisbon August weather", or "Gibraltar August weather") will give you a very good idea of what you might experience. Rare Keith1010 Posted June 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted June 23, 2017 CruiserBruce has it right. Also keep in mind that Silver Cloud is a relatively small ship. I would book a room that is as mid ship as you can get. Keith
ksqueak Posted June 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2017 I did a similar itinerary a few years ago in early September and don't remember rough weather at all. Daily temperatures started out cool but became hot the further along the cruise. But as everyone has said, it can be different at any time. dsrdsrdsr Posted June 24, 2017 #5 Share Posted June 24, 2017 The Bay of Biscay is more likely than most places to be rough. Something to do with a big undersea valley causing significant undersea currents.
