I have used them and would use them again. Actually dropped people off at the airport first and then continued to Termini where I got off. They also pick up at the airport daily at 12.30 and go directly to the port.

Much easier than using the train.

We wanted to use them in October. Seems they do not go daily. You have to check their website schedule coz they only do shuttles on certain days.

Cheers,

We did wind up using them for our transfer from Civi to FCO. Absolutely no problems. We disembarked (got off the ship) around 8, took the shuttle to Largo della Pace and they were right there where all the taxi/transfer hawkers are, had a stand set up as CivitaTours. Walked across the street to the bus, put our luggage in and then walked to a cafe for an espresso. Bus left on time 9:30ish, got to FCO Terminal 3 within the hour.

We booked the transfer through Smartcruisetours which is a reseller, you can book direct with civitatours. Same price: 20EU PP. We did book ahead, not wanting to leave it to chance that they were overbooked, but it seems like they had plenty of "walk-on" sales as well. Lots of staff, easily visible. Coach was your typical excursion coach, air conditioned, comfortable.

We would use them again. What would we do differently? Stay on the ship another 45 min, even after going to a cafe we sat on the bus for 30 minutes.

Difference between using ship's airport transfer? You have to take the shuttle bus from the ship to Largo della Pace, while the ship's transfers were at the ship.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of using them...

That is great - thanks so much for your follow up report. Good to know. Was curious about "walk up" availability if we don't pre-book.

I emailed both Civitatours & Smart cruise re shuttle service on Oct. 24-2017 - neither have shuttles running that day. Only on the 23rd & 25th (day of our cruise). But we will use them In May 2018 on our return cruise from Civi.

Thanks again!

Hi Tara we will also be in Rome next October and would love you to go onto the Australian sight to let us know if you ended up using the above company and what you thought of it, as it seems an economical way to get back to the airport after the cruise
