Car Rental or not?

Hi

We are doing Pride of America next year and are considering a rental car.

How is traffic and getting around? If we did a rental it would be on the overnight stops in Maui and Kauii.

Has anyone done without a rental and if so how did that work out?

We speak only for Maui, and can say that driving a rental car is quite practical. Unless you get off the beaten path, roads are good and we really don't have a lot of traffic (but it depends what you have been used to). You can set your own schedule and avoid the crowds and prices of guided tours. It is hard to get lost here. Just curious though: How were you thinking of getting around to see the sights of Maui without a rental car? By doing all guided tours? Some other way?
