Rare chasinraynbowz Posted July 17, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2017 I booked us on a cruise leaving next May online. I put a deposit down, but that is all so far. My name is on the reservation but no others. How long do I have before I HAVE to put names? My DH is going of course, but its the other 2 in the cabin with us that I am unsure of. It's either going to be one set of grandkids or the other set of grandkids. Has anyone waited before?

seamusdad Posted July 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 18, 2017 I don't really understand the, question? My understanding is that you booked a cabin as a solo (since you only put your name down) and paid a deposit. Do you know if your cabin accomodates 4 guests?. Did you pay 4 deposits and have 3 berths as TBA? Different answers depending on your booking. If you did a solo booking add nanes as soon as possible because even if there are berths in your cabin the ship may be at full capacity. If you paid 4 deposits and 3 berths are TBA those berths are secure and you have up to day before, sailing I would think since that is the time limit to switch names on a booking. Rare chasinraynbowz Posted July 18, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted July 18, 2017 I paid 4 deposits. When I booked online, it did not require me to add the other names. I called Carnival and was told they needed the names right away of course.
EllaDuChien Posted July 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2017 I paid 4 deposits. When I booked online, it did not require me to add the other names. I called Carnival and was told they needed the names right away of course. I have not found this to be true. I always put just my name and wait until just before final payment for the second name. I have never had any issues doing it that way.

imluvncruzn Posted July 18, 2017 #7 Share Posted July 18, 2017 I booked a quad cabin backed in February and I only put my name down. The rest are listed as TBA. I called last night to pay on cruise with gift cards I received and the rep gave me a hard time about "needing the names" right that minute. I told her I wasn't ready to give the names because I had to check with other family members. She just advised me to complete the names as soon as possible. loanshark Posted July 18, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 18, 2017 I have a cabin booked in my wife's name as a solo right now, for November 2018. It was booked with a PVP. I wanted to book this way as I get discounted casino offers only when I currently do not have a cruise booked in my name. I will eventually add myself to the booking sometime before final payment (hopefully with a good casino offer), and the PVP said I could even wait longer and add myself after final payment if I desired. I still plan on adding myself before final payment, as I want to be absolutely certain that I can price match to any casino offers that are received. For what it's worth, if Carnival really didn't want people to book this way, then they shouldn't be so stingy with various offers that can be used to price match existing bookings. I told her I wasn't ready to give the names because I had to check with other family members. She just advised me to complete the names as soon as possible. When I called and asked, that is the same info I got, that they needed the names immediately. I just can't give them immediately as I am not certain which grandchildren are going. For what its worth, the grandkids we want to take are brother and sister and are very close. One won't do anything without the other. One is handicapped and neither one of them has ever spent the night away from mom and dad. We are taking baby steps now and keeping them a night here and a night there, but until I am certain we are not going to have meltdowns because they don't have their mommy and daddy, I am not comfortable taking them. Budget Queen Posted July 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted July 19, 2017 Solo bookings DO have the risk of NOT being able to add anyone if the cruise sells out and capacity is reached. During school outs, this is the biggest risk time frame. But, I also experienced this last October with a cruise that a friend had booked solo expecting me to be added. Cruise had sold out, and I had to wait for a cancellation, which happened a few days after booking but booking was well after final payment.
