Cruiser21484 Posted July 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 21, 2017 Hello, I was just going through the carnival website for things to do before boarding. I see that there is an online checking. How long before the sail date can I do the online checkin? I am new to carnival. Thank you,
Vrybusy Posted July 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted July 21, 2017 I always do it about a month or two before our sail date. Not sure about an exact time frame but I think you have to be paid in full before you can do the online check-in.
GranysT Posted July 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2017 You can do the online check-in, any time after booking. However you won't be able to print your documents, or luggage tags, until after you pay the cruise in full.
Kaszdad Posted July 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2017 I think you can do the on-line check-in any time after booking the cruise. I have done ours for two cruises next year as well as one in 2019. You just can't print your boarding pass until paid in full. Ken
bury me at sea Posted July 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2017 You can check in on line any time after booking. Depending on how far away your cruise is, not all excursions may be available yet, and a check-in time selection may not yet be there. You can partially complete it, including bed arrangement and dining time. You can add and edit any time.

GranysT is correct ;) I normally fill out the first page of it right after we book and finish right after final payment. You can always go back and edit any item on the online check-in if info changes.

easyboy Posted July 22, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Regularly check, if you have time, after booking if already possible so you can have early time slot. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Organized Chaos Posted July 22, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 22, 2017 Regularly check, if you have time, after booking if already possible so you can have early time slot. Sent from my iPad using Forums OP is referring to online check-in, not choosing an arrival time. OP, speaking of picking an arrival time (or check-in time), that will show up later. It's different than online check-in, which can be done anytime. The option to pick an arrival time usually appears around the 6 month mark prior to your sail date, give or take. It will show up in your cruise manager when you log in and you'll pick the time (they'll be listed in half-hour windows) closest to when you think you'll arrive at the terminal. It's to help make the check-in process run smoother so everyone doesn't show up at once. You usually cannot get inside the terminal before your chosen arrival time, but you can go in after if you happen to show up later. The earlier your arrival time, the lower the boarding zone number you'll be assigned. They start boarding priority passengers first (wedding parties, platinum/diamond passengers, FTTF) then call everyone else by their zone numbers. If you purchased Faster To The Fun (FTTF), you still have to pick an arrival time online, but you can show up at the terminal anytime you want. Even before the arrival time you picked, if you want, but it's still best to pick a time closest to when you'll arrive.
dmdiver Posted July 22, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 22, 2017 We were able to pick a check-in time & print luggage tags as soon as the cruise was booked (7 months in advance). However, we won't be able to print boarding passes until paid in full. We've shopped excursions & marked our favorites, but haven't actually booked those yet. We also tend to wait on putting in our card info for the onboard account until a little closer to time - just in case anything changes like a card number or which card we use for the account. We had an incident on Princess where the card being used initially ended up being reissued. Of course, we never thought about that when we got the new card. Fast forward to the cruise - even though we had a huge on board credit, they wanted the card info if we wanted to do any gambling. So, no slots for me. I guess that kept me from throwing away $20 in the casino, because that's all it ever is - a $20 donation to the cruise line.
