Tikka234 Posted July 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Hi were going next Sunday, What would you carry off ship for your excursions? Do you take a rucksack with you? If it looks a nice day would you take warmer clothes/ coat? I only have a very lightweight light shower coat or my bigger what I call winter coat, do I need to buy something different. Lots of talks about taking fleece top would you in August I just normally use lightweight cardigans. Do I need a fleece? Thanks

Thanks We've not long returned from the fjords in June, we just carried light rain coat in a rucksack with some water and the usual bits and bobs. The only time we needed anything thicker was at the North Cape where I wore a thick fleece.
Rare LHT28 Posted July 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2017 Depends on the ports the ones further north I would have a fleece & rainproof jacket along with hat & mitts if in the southern part like Oslo, Bergen probably a light sweater & rain proof jacket will be fine The weather in Norway is changeable from morning to late day Last trip was in August Bergen was rain & fog so no view from the top of the funicular Go with layers & you will be fine I take a small backpack with water & extra sweater in case Enjoy
dsrdsrdsr Posted July 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2017 No idea whether you need a fleece - you can't know until you get there. Norwegian weather is very variable, and you can see the weather in the morning and still not be sure what it will be lke in the afternoon. Take winter coat, lightweight waterproof, and fleece. It's not a packing failure if you don't need them all.
