Anyone been through customs at POM recently? SWA moved our flight out of FLL from 12:45pm to 11:50am on Monday December 4, 2017, so I need to make a decision to try to make the flight or rebook.

Ship arrives at 7:00 am and I am planning on debarking ship around 8:00. Figure 60 min from POM to FLL, 30 min to check bags and since we are TSA Pre Check, planning on another 30 min there, then on to the gate. By this account, we should have time to make the flight even if I allow 60 min. for customs. Any and All input would be great. Thanks

Have a great day

Recent experience doesn't always matter given that right now less ships are in port in Miami compared to December.

Our most recent Miami cruise was in January and we have sailed this port often.

Since you have TSA pre check I would stay with the flight.

You will be one of four ships in port that day and sometimes there are more then that.

I would print out your boarding passes on the cruise ship so you have one less thing to deal with at the airport. You can check in your bags curbside.

If all goes well you shouldn't have a problem but of course if you run into any issues at all your schedule could be upended.

Since you are disembarking in Miami and going to FLL on a weekday I would allow as much time as possible for the transfer in case you run into accidents or construction on I-95. Do you plan to be in the first self disembarkation group?

To summarize this into the question that is very commonly asked here, can you make an 11:30 FLL flight, sailing into POM. Customs at FLL is not a factor.

The very common recommendation here is to take 12 noon flights, or later, in your situation. As mentioned, there are potential traffic and construction landmines, plus you have no control over how long it takes to get off the ship.

Lastly, and not mentioned here, is you will also be competing with tens of thousands of people arriving at FLL from Port Everglades.

You might make this 11:30 flight, but it will be a stressful way to end your vacation.

I wanted to chime in here- had an option of a flight shortly after noon. Also cruising Miami flying Fort Lauderdale. This is for first Friday in November. So I called royal Caribbean: they said no flights before 12:30. So, I opted for the 5pm. Since I'm cruising solo will do the bayside transfer thing.. have stayed twice at the roadway inn Fort Lauderdale. It's not bad, but it's not great.. the decor is pretty cheap looking in ththe public areas and if u get a room on second level NO elevator..the restaurant is sooooo slooow.. there were other guests smoking marijuana around the pool.. and I even heard they have 'escort' conventions there [emoji33](not sure on validity on last one). Had to switch room twice due to doors not working with the key cards. I wouldn't stay there again... I would rent a car and do South Beach, Bayside or maybe the Everglades tour.. Have a great weekend.
