NWACruiser Posted August 1, 2017 #27 Share Posted August 1, 2017 In the first four cruises, I really did not pay that much attention to the Cruise Director. I had a great time anyhow. The CD on the B2B cruise, Brandon, was a big part of the cruise. Jen was excellent on my Alaska cruise. They made the cruise a lot of fun. It will not affect my cruise, if the CD is not that good. A good one may enhance the cruise. It depend on what you are planning on doing during the cruise.
lenquixote66 Posted August 1, 2017 #28 Share Posted August 1, 2017 We don't pay attention to either! A good CD can add to your cruise enjoyment in my opinion .I do not care who the Captain or Casino boss are.
denrusk Posted August 1, 2017 #29 Share Posted August 1, 2017 I agree with most people here that the cruise director does not usually make that big a difference. That said, after watching many bad shows and mediocre singers, it was great having Chris Williams on our last Dream cruise. He has his own production show and it is really good. easyboy Posted August 1, 2017 #31 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Regardless who the CD or Casino Host is, it will not be a deal breaker for us to book.
Djptcp Posted August 1, 2017 #32 Share Posted August 1, 2017 We don't care anything about who the cruise director is, but the casino hosts are important because I spend as much time in the ship casinos as possible. The hosts buy me free drinks until I reach the minimum number of points for free drinks the rest of the cruise. At the end of the cruises, I usually receive a letter from a casino host inviting me back for a free cruise. I usually amass 4,000-6,000 points per cruise. EMG7089 Posted August 1, 2017 #33 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Kevin the CD on the Elation is absolutely hilarious and so very engaging with everyone-the customers and staff. His sidekick George is also very entertaining. Spent just a little time in the casino, not a whole lot of time but the casino employees didn't seem to be too happy, at least not the ones we encountered. I will most definitely sail the Elation again literally based upon Kevin, George and the rest of the staff. SoftballMom8 Posted August 1, 2017 #34 Share Posted August 1, 2017 Dr's can make your cruise better. MIKE PACK was my last one and he was super fun to be around. Never a dull moment with him. Always willing to help with anything and vary polite. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Forums mobile app
SS Exeter Posted August 1, 2017 #35 Share Posted August 1, 2017 If you are ever fortunate enough to have Matt Mitchem as your CD, you will understand what a Great CD can do. His tribute to our Veterans is one of the most moving and worthwhile experience one can have. His obvious joy at doing what he does is infectious and his announcements are a pleasure to listen to. Doesn't hurt that he is very easy on the eyes!
