El Abuelo Posted August 24, 2017 #28 Share Posted August 24, 2017 My thought is the biggest risk to tourists in Mexico has been and continues to be making bad choices / doing something dumb. That, and the water. What a coincidence this updated advisory was published as NAFTA negotiations are underway.
bigque Posted August 24, 2017 #29 Share Posted August 24, 2017 A little different than a slight rise. The statistics change might be small, but it is the change in location that matters. Playa Del Carmen had 5 killed in a gun fight in a bar in town. I had always considered it to be one of the safer sports. Problem is fighting between drug gangs, that have moved the fight into traditional tourist areas. Tourists are not the targets, but can get caught in the violence between the gangs. That is true here also in the good ole USA with tourist and regular residents! In my 20 years in the military there were travel advisories in just about every part of the world we went!
