Stace894 Posted September 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2017 So, I know I have time but wanted to get people's thoughts. We are sailing from NYC next Spring. Amtrak has changed their Sunday schedules for their Value fares. Now last train to Boston in the morning is at 10am and the next is not until 7pm (can still travel between these times for about $350 vs the $147 for value fare). We will be doing the Self-Disembark with all our luggage and staying in the Haven, so off pretty quickly. What do people think about our chances of making that 10am train out of Penn Station to Boston? I really do not want to hang around NYC all day waiting for the 7pm train as we are arriving a day early prior to cruise to explore. Thanks for your thoughts and Happy Cruising! Stace894 Posted September 7, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted September 7, 2017 NCL Escape 6/17-24...The last time we were out of NYC we did the self-disembark with Carnival and it was pretty quick. Haven't done this out of NYC with NCL and Haven...
Rare mking8288 Posted September 7, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) NCL ships coming back from BDA on turnaround are usually early, Haven guests get priority escort from concierge even for Self Walk-Off, you should be fine as long as ship isn't delayed for whatever reason & there is no immigration hold at the pier. On morning of arrival, you will have a good idea of docking time as ship come in/near VZ Bridge - be prepared to leave the ship around 7:30 as generally & go to the designated area to wait for the escort, that's the earliest. Use porter services for faster exit & see if they can take you to get a taxi quicker as well. Optionally, I would consider a good third-party trip insurance, to cover any unexpected delays - beyond NCL's control - with the train connection. via Nexus 5X on Nougat 7.1.2 using Tapatalk, VPN secured. Stace894 Posted September 7, 2017 Author #5 Share Posted September 7, 2017 THanks.. it sounds like it should be pretty doable from what I have read in general. I always do trip insurance just for peace of mind. Will probably take our chance with the 10am train. Its only a quick cab ride to the station once we are off... even if we are there by 9:40 we should be ok to get on the train...
marco Posted September 9, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2017 Assuming no snafus with docking/disembarkation, you should have no problem. Once off, on a Sunday morning at that time you'll be a Penn station in no time.
