RainyJ Posted September 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2017 I have two boys, ages 9 & 12 at time of sailing. Here's the deal--my older son is on the autism spectrum. He is high functioning and can communicate just fine, but he is very immature for his age. He will turn 12 three weeks before the cruise. Do you think the Adventure Ocean staff would allow him to participate in the Voyagers group (9-11) with his younger brother? There is no way he would fit in with the 12-14 age group. Clarea Posted September 21, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2017 All you can do is talk with the staff when you get onboard. Sometimes the ability to move into a different group depends on the amount of children in each group.
LeesSummitCruiser1 Posted September 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Above 12 there really is not much of a group. There is a meet and mingle the first night and then some sports activities. The rest of the time the living room is just an area to congregate. gerif Posted September 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2017 RCI is very good with autistic kids so you should have no problem. Just speak with them when they open for orientation the first evening.
Cel_cruise Posted September 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2017 I think Adventure Ocean will accommodate you for this. Ask when you board the ship and make sure to indicate the special circumstances. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RainyJ Posted September 22, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted September 22, 2017 Thanks for the responses! I will make a point to get over there to talk to them shortly after we board.

My outgoing extrovert friends with everyone (one of his dear friends is 18) and talklfor his age (with a nearly changed voice) then 12 year old felt too young for the room. Didn't go back after day 1.
