Disney323 Posted October 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2017 My husband was thinking of taking our 2 boys (11 and 8) on the Behind the Scenes Tour on the Breakaway while I have some free time. I reached out to pre-concierge & was told that the price is $79 per person (no child discount) and that the bridge is not included on this due to heightened security. My question is, what is included and is it worth the hefty price? My 11 year old has autism & finds all behind the scenes things fascinating, but want it to be worth their while & not just a walk down some corridors. What is the duration of the tour? Thank you in advance! ~Andrea 1st time on Norwegian & in Haven
Linegang Posted October 4, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2017 From what I remember it was a tour of the kitchen, laundry area, and the theater. Maybe something else but definitely not the bridge like you said. It wasn’t too long either. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Disney323 Posted October 4, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted October 4, 2017 Thank you, that's what I was figuring. Bummer.
Rare Laszlo Posted October 4, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 4, 2017 On my tours of the Gem and BA they were both about 3 hours and we went to the bridge. They didn't announce we were going until they called up and said we could have 20 minutes there
Rare mking8288 Posted October 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2017 My husband was thinking of taking our 2 boys (11 and 8) on the Behind the Scenes Tour ... want it to be worth their while & not just a walk down some corridors. What is the duration of the tour? ... We've done the BTS tour on both the BA and "smaller" Gem tour recently and the mega ship tour is definitely better & a bit longer, even for the complimentary Platinum one, which lasted about 80 to 90 minutes, shorter on the Gem & just over 1 hour (less time in the gallery & provisioning, less walking) Here's an older thread that got bumped up today - https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2481527 The paid tour was (is) priced at $79 p/p and last longer - up to 3 hours, with 2 additional stops - yes, lots of walking & standing. The comp'd Platinum tour on the BA covered laundry (Fwd ship section) and then walk thru provisioning, down the I-95 & peek into the crew & officer's dining area, with the last stop being the huge gallery (kitchen). The Gem's tour has a backstage tour including a stop at the dressing area for the entertainers, then laundry & finally the gallery. CC'ers who attended the Meet & Mingle were invited to a private bridge tour by the Gem's Captain in 2012 on a sea day later in the week. (Follow my SIGNature link below & you will find pictures in 2 recent reviews, including the tour) The paid tour included a stop at environmental services. Bridge tour no longer done for either group due to enhanced security rules, as we're escorted by a security officer on our BA tour but only the Latitude/ShoreEx staff were with us. Still photos are allowed to be taken & questions asked and answered - both the heads of laundry & one of the executive chefs were on hand to greet us & narrated the sights, no videotaping however. Rare mcmomny Posted October 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2017 Our paid tour on the Breakaway was really nice, like others have said laundry, kitchen, theater and dressing rooms, hidden hallways and staircases, and the environmental area which I found very fascinating. I would think the 11 year old would like it, the 8 year might be bored but our tour guides where fun and kept everyone involved.
Zany lady Posted October 15, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 15, 2017 Ours was a couple of years ago and we did the one you get when you are platinum. It included kitchen, laundry and theatre. Took about 1.5 hours. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
