Dancing on the Vista

I will be going on the Vista 4/21/18. I've been taking dancing lessons at Arthur Murray concentration on Salsa, Bachata, swing and Merenque. Are these dances popular on the Vista?

I think you should look at a Holland America cruise. In all the cruises I've taken on Carnival, RCCL, and NCL, I don't think I've ever seen anyone with ballroom dancing skills! Lol! Sorry, don't mean to laugh, but seriously, you will do better to look at cruises that cater mostly to an older crowd--Holland America, Cunard.

We were on the Vista over Thanksgiving. As former Arthur Murray students, we were ready to dance, however the only dancing we found was at the Havana Bar until the second to the last night and the last night where we found some dancing at the Oceans lounge. We asked Matt the cruise director about where to dance, and his answer was that he wishes they had more opportunity to dance. Leave your dancing shoes home.

Gary, there was definitely ballroom dancing each night on our Royal Caribbean cruises. I think there is a Latin music club on Carnival, where people were dancing. We'll ne on Vista soon, I'll keep an eye out.

I haven't been on the Vista yet (Dec 30 for new years cruise) but DW and I have always found some live music somewhere we can dance to, expect small floors and kids that dart across the floor because their parents tell them to go out and dance (their sooo cute). Its not to hard to avoid another dance couple because I predict where they are going but I have almost taken out a kid or two. BTW most bands love it when you dance and will play almost anything you want.

I’ve seen couples dancing up on deck during some of the deck parties.

Our Alaska Journeys cruise had a dance teacher.

On our cruise a few weeks ago there was a Latin duo playing music that was danceable.

Was on the Vista, certainly no need for dancing lessons to dance. There was nightly dancing in the Havana lounge (aft of ship) and there was nightly dancing in atrium (very small, very crowded) led by the best CD in CCL's fleet (Matt Mitchum).....but that was not Latin by any stretch. Just go have fun!!

Havana Bar every night has very good live Latino music.

Ocean Plaza every night...though the band does mix various types of music.

RFP every night usually has an entertainer in there...depending on who it is, there may be more or less music to dance to.

I cruise on the Dream and the Triumph and I've seen both salsa, swing, and Ballroom dancing. You just have to get up, start dancing and some other couple will join you. We are smooth groove R&B style dancers and we always had a good time until Carnival went cheap and got rid of the good Filipino bands. I hope Carnival get's their head out of their anal cavity and bring to good bands back.

So, IDK what ships the rest of these people have been on, but from the early 2000s, I can remember there being "Latin Nights" in the disco, (along with 70s, 80s nights too). They usually start this type of music when the disco opens. Deep in the night it goes back to whatever is popular.

I've also had Latin bands on some of my cruises. They would sing in the lobby or by the casino bar. On my last cruise on the Breeze, there was a band called Azucar Moreno. They sang and played all of the music you mentioned. Me and the boyfriend loved to look on the FunTimes and see where they would be playing on the ship. He was sad when they had nights off lol

On vista, there is the Havana Bar. and based on youtube videos (and the obvious clue "Havana" lol), they play salsa just about every night. So I'm sure other latin dances are incorporated into the play list.

Out of the dances you mentioned, I'm best at Bachata. Cumbia is a close second for me.

So no worries, you'll definitely find what you are looking for :)
