helpmesailaway Posted October 8, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Does Uniworlld use "hearing devices" with ear buds on their escorted tours? If they do, can the ear buds be removed and replaced with a headphone set? This question is very specific to me because of hearing impairment. I've gotten used to just hearing what I can and enjoying being in a wonderful place but I know how much I miss. It's certainly not a deal breaker because I bring my Bose for airline travel anyway. thanks
laverendrye Posted October 8, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2017 Uniworld does use the Univox device for its guided tours, but I can't recall whether or not the earpiece is connected with a standard 3.5mm pin or if it is a custom connection. I suggest you get in touch with Uniworld and ask, and if it is a custom connection, ask if they can do a connection for your earphones. Rare pinotlover Posted October 8, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2017 My wife has used the earbuds from her nose system. I have the full nose noise reduction headsets and don't use , but I believe the jack would work for them like my wife's earbuds do.
Mark_T Posted October 9, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 9, 2017 My wife has used the earbuds from her nose system. There have been times when I've wished that fellow travelers owned a 'nose noise reduction headset', but I'm guessing that the spell-checker has transmuted your Bose devices in this case :) I can't speak for the specific units used in this case, but in general most normal headphone type mini-jacks tend to work with the exception of the ones designed for use with phones which include a microphone, these can be a bit temperamental due to their 4-pole design. Babcia7 Posted October 9, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 9, 2017 My husband also is hearing impaired and uses his Bose headphones with the voxbox system on Uniworld. He is able to hear the guides loud and clear. The only negative is that with the headphones on, he can't hear anyone else, or any oncoming traffic. helpmesailaway Posted October 10, 2017 Author #6 Share Posted October 10, 2017 Thank you all so much for answering. I do have "I look like I'm flying the plane" Bose noise cancelling headphones. I'm glad to know that I can use them if needed.
