My very active parents (70+) will be visiting mid November. They love to explore things on their own and I wonder which woudl be a best beach to recommend for them? I guess one that they could take a cab from without any hassle.

Thanks,

Elizabeth

We really enjoyed the Carambola Beach Club. It was a $4 taxi ride each (for 4 people...for 2 it is $8), that is each way. They have very nice padded chairs you can rent for $20/day for 2, add $10 for an umbrella. They had buckets of 6 local beer or soft drinks for $20 when we were there last time.

We also enjoy Palm Court Gardens which you can reach by taxi, or by walking along the coast road to the outskirts of town 10-15 minutes. It has become our “go-to” place in St Kitts for a relaxing few hours. Highly recommend pre-reserving loungers as it can fill up with ship crew around lunch time.

St Kitts is not famous for their beaches, so if your folks are open to non-beach activities both Romney Manor / Wingfield Estate and the Brimstone Hill Fortress are worth visiting - especially if they like history. There is a fair amount of walking, so if that is an issue, the beach might be better. Either or both of these is a short, easy taxi ride to the north of Basseterre.

Do you reserve chairs when buying a day pass online?

Yes you reserve loungers but don’t pay anything until you get there on the day. The loungers you choose will have a reserved sign on them. They will hold them until a certain time ( maybe 11?) unless you let them know you will be later. They will send a detailed letter.

Do you have to purchase a pass for Palm Court Gardens? Can you just stop by for a drink or lunch?

Yes, you can just stop to eat and drink if you don’t want to use the pool and loungers. Admission policy listed here and further details on website

I think you need to buy garden pass which will be refunded over $15.
