judylee27 Posted October 31, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Hello fellow Princess cruisers. Can you help me by answering a few questions about this cruise? First how was it? How was the weather? How were the waters(waves, bumpy, calm, etc.?) Is their one side of the ship that has better views? Thanks you for any help. skynight Posted October 31, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Hello fellow Princess cruisers. Can you help me by answering a few questions about this cruise?First how was it? Really nice cruise. Interesting ports, Port intensive, Requires lots of planning. Join your roll call for private tours. How was the weather? We went end of August and the weather was nice. Sweater or light jacket needed some times. How were the waters(waves, bumpy, calm, etc.?) The Baltic is calm almost all the time. Is their one side of the ship that has better views? No Thanks you for any help. See above
Micahs Grandad Posted October 31, 2017 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2017 We did it this past July and was great. Weather in 70's most days perfect for sightseeing and seas were very calm. Did take a lot of planning for tours though
trvlwrld Posted October 31, 2017 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2017 late august was jeans and jackets for night-waters were normal cruising-some days calm others more windy but none were huge waves-couple days of light rain-cruise was great ports-no difference to side of ship except in rotterdam where port side had better views-would do this cruise again in a heartbeat! easyboy Posted October 31, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Aside from the historic sites, appreciated seeing tulips in bloom in the region for the month of May. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

crawford Posted October 31, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2017 See above Ditto on the above. Our weather in early June was high 50's to 72. A little rain, but fairly light.
workinggal Posted October 31, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Apr. 30 to May 11. E 622 obstructed balcony, full view of Warnemunde in port. Smooth sailing, no rough waters. Booked all tours through Princess. 2 full days and 1 evening tour and dinner at Catherine Palace. Horse farm in Helsinki, included a nice lunch with explanation of the foods by the mistress. Tour of the stables. Questions and answers about farm life in Finland. We live on a farm in IN and this interested us. Actually the machinery a different brand, and life is similar to ours. The weather was chilly and was cold and snowy in Stockholm, but it did not bother us. Dressed in layers: tank top, cotton shirt, light weight vest, jeans, flannel lined hooded water proof jacket, sock cap and gloves. We were comfortable. No rain. Whenever you decide to go, pick a time and GO! Retired and not regretting. Loved the entire trip. Already booked a 21 day MED for June.
workinggal Posted October 31, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Oh, yes, did have Princess tours at each port. No complaints about anything. We are grateful for everything.
bluenoser2 Posted October 31, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2017 did this with our 3 kids and they (and we) loved the cruise! Their favourites (late teenagers to twenty-somethings) were Berlin and St. Petersburg. It was exhausting, but we wouldn't have changed a thing. The weather was great in July - we had one terrificly downpouring day in Oslo which made us curtail some planned activities, but even that became a favourite memory! We did all our tours through SPB Tours, a private company that had tours in Stockholm, Berlin and St. Petersburg and they were superb! Not a single complaint about them - very professional, reliable and knowledgeable - and a whole lot less expensive than Princess tours. The other stops we did on our own. Lots of research beforehand, but that's half the fun.
travelbug615 Posted October 31, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 31, 2017 We just did this on the Regal, August 29- Sept 9th, 2017. Our balcony was on the starboard side and were happy with the views. We had two sunny days in St. Petersburg which were told is not common. We wore long pants with a light jacket in the ports. If you are comfortable using public transportation and coming up with "do it yourself" shore excursion plans, this is a great cruise. We only used a tour for St. Petersburg (prebooked a local company, very happy with the two day tour ). We used Princess's "On your own transportation to Berlin" but other than that we were able to get around using local public transportation. It does take time to come up with plans and information on how to use the local public transport, but we prefer to put the effort in and be able to do exactly what we want to do and not be with a bus of 50 people. It is a hectic port schedule and because of this we ended up skipping the dining room and eating in the Lido more than normal.
lstone19 Posted October 31, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 31, 2017 The Baltic Sea is very protected waters compared to open ocean. So it should be smooth unless you have a local major storm churning things up. Water disturbances from far away just can’t get through the opening from the ocean to the Baltic Sea in any great amount. But that said, the area near that opening (between Oslo and Copenhagen) can get rough although I have not encountered rough water there in two different cruises. Micahs Grandad Posted October 31, 2017 #13 Share Posted October 31, 2017 Be on deck and be prepared to go from side to side while heading into Stockholm or leaving. Gorgeous scenery
