Rare Beamafar Posted July 20, 2018 #27 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Are they still doing that? Thanks Yes ... they had to withdraw the Fantasia-class ships as they were too big (Venice banned them a couple of years or so ago). Now, both Musica and Lirica class sail in and out through the Grand Canal (the only route to the cruise terminal).
Rare Beamafar Posted July 20, 2018 #28 Share Posted July 20, 2018 We've not had our tickets yet. I'm just going on the time stated on the booking. Would it be possible to request an earlier boarding time by ringing MSC do you know? You don't need to contact MSC. They're not strict on boarding times ... view the advised time as a suggested one. If it suits you to go to the terminal straight from your hotel, there won't be a problem. Boarding will probably begin around 11am. You'll be given a number when you arrive; the earlier you do, the lower the number and the quicker you'll be onboard. You may even make it for lunch, onboard. Certainly, the buffet will be serving lunch 'til at least 3pm. They often have a facility onboard for you to drop your hand-luggage (your suitcases are handed over to porters on arrival at the port and will be delivered to your cabin during the afternoon) so you can explore the ship unencumbered. Just ensure that you keep small, valuable items on your person.

Rare Beamafar Posted July 20, 2018 #30 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Great news! Sounds magical. It's stunning!! Looking forward to doing it again, for at least the fourth (or is it fifth?) time, in September.
Cumbria1kaz Posted July 20, 2018 #31 Share Posted July 20, 2018 We phoned MSC to ask them to clarify the drinks packages. The only lager they do on the classic package is Heineken on draught and even the man we spoke to seemed surprised about that. So for bottles such as Peroni, Corona etc we would have to buy the Deluxe package. Bit disappointing really, especially when you don't drink Heineken!
