Cucina del Capitano

Sailing on the Sunshine in December and have read good reviews about dinner at this restaurant. There are several dishes in the MDR that I know I don't want to miss. Can you make reservations for the Cucina del Capitano the day of usually? I would like to wait until I see what is on in the MDR that night if possible. Any suggestions on which days are usually better for getting in last minute?

Other than the Steakhouse..... I have never had a problem making reservations the same day at the other "pay to eat" venues. You just need to be flexible with the time you eat as they may only have certain time slots available.

We did this one Sunshine sailing, we didn't like the MDR menu at all that night so we called up to Cucina and asked if they had any openings. It was about 5:30, and the hostess said, "sure, we can seat you now if you want." Easy peasy!

Been on that ship six times and never see it packed back in the aft for either restaurants.. So you should be fine making reservations even the afternoon of.

Wasnt impressed with cucina...i went at lunch when it was free.

To be fair, Cucina at lunch is much different than at dinner... lunch is just a pasta place... dinner has a great menu, singing waiters and a nice, casual atmosphere... it is difficult to judge a dinner Cucina experience from just the lunch one... that being said, we eat there often on a cruise and have never had issues making same day reservations! Enjoy

We love Cucina, ate there twice. The braised short ribs and pasta were outstanding.

With the new Carnival Hub App, we were able to see the MDR menus for all of the nights of the cruise. Shortly after boarding, you can view the MDR menus for every night and decide which night you want to skip. You can then make your reservation on the first day to have a better chance of getting the time slot you prefer.

They raved about the bread and i thought the mdr hard rolls were better..pasta was ok..
